Recording my history in a new poetry chapbook

I heard from Pudding House Publications that they will be publishing my chapbook titled "Decalmaker". I am so pleased. It records my experience working with an interesting group of people at the Boeing Company, back when companies treated their employees like family. I'm taking preorders for signed, numbered copies, see my web page www.sfharper.com for details.

Surviving the Storm

Seattle had one windy storm last week. We still have the 80' tree resting on our deck after falling onto our roof and rolling off. Lucky for us, it caused minimal damage. No so in many places in Puget Sound. Our dentist told us he wasn't likely to get his power back on until next week. All the power poles went down in West Seattle and they were replacing them for a 1000 users at a time.

The Christmas Season

My dad always used to say "Peace and Quiet" any time we asked him what he wanted for Christmas. Or told us about being a hermit in the woods and allowing his hair and beard grow clear to his waist. We never believed him, pulling on his hands, sitting on his lap, laughing and playing.

Try these four family oriented activities while you're in Honolulu

Honolulu, home town of Waikiki beach, is a wonderful place for sun and sand. But that's not all. Try your children on one of these adventures. They're sure to have an interesting and educational time: Honolulu Zoo-- A good walk past bird cages and naturally housed animals including komodo dragons, monitors, giraffes, and more. see my review at: http://reviews.families.

New Game while walking -- take advantage of fall

So on a recent river walk, the pace got a little boring since we returned by the same route. The youngsters were gettting restless. So we started playing. Game 1 : walk on leaves only Game 2: don't step on any leaves Both are surprisingly not so easy to do. Still, it focused the attention and got everyone jumping and laughing. Simplistic, true, but then why not?

Want your children outdoors? Make them a play pack!

About the time my oldest nephew turned 10, he started asking for "big kid" toys. I had to think back, what had I liked to play with.
