Frisbee Golf -- another walking activity

I learned about playing frisbee golf while at college. All the guys played it in the open campus areas. What you need: 1) a frisbee for each person 2) score pad and pen 3) open space The course is always decided at random by the players who agree which is the next 'hole' or object the frisbee must touch. Then, everyone takes turns throwing their frisbee toward that object.

Fun things to do while taking a family walk or hike

Walking with children, up mountains or just around the neighborhood has taught us that whining and complaining disappears as long as we play games. Some of these games are also good for long car trips.

Football -- a new experience

Well, we're now football parents since my nephew has joined his high school football team. Day one, while registering him for school, the counseling office staff started asking him to join. He said yes-no-maybe. Again he was encouraged by the football coach, registration staff. He said yes-no-maybe.

Inventory methods aren't just for big business

With two children in the house, food flows through at incredible rates. Worse, every day, one or the other comes home with a tale about this teacher wants us to have an office supply or my battery ran out. Because our kitchen is somewhat small, we have a pantry just off the garage where our groceries enter the house. So our system is fairly simple. We buy two of every product (at least).

Managing my writing time

With two children in the house, my time for writing has become limited. I decided to wake and get up with the kids, before they went to school and start right in. I've changed my habits, too. I've had to limit my e-mail and internet group participation to later hours so that I focus on my projects and their completion.

Minimum Requirements for a well-managed laundryroom

We recently added two new people to our household so our laundry doubled. To support the new load, we redid our laundryroom.

The Who's Uglier Story

Me and my roommate Debbie, and her boyfriend, were sitting in our kitchen one evening when we got to discussing who was ugliest as a child.      Debbie started by claiming, "I was sooo ugly. Everyone agreed. Red hair, freckles, and glasses."      I, quieter than her, merely denied it. "No way. I was.

Hanging Pictures

Until I moved in with my husband, I never really knew how pictures were hung. I always took a small nail and pounded it into the wall and hoped for the best. He makes it a work of art. Every picture gets two little round hooks on the frame side and then a piece of wire twisted through it.

Fruits of early harvest

We don't have many edible garden plants in our yard, but we managed to save 1 filbert and 1 strawberry from the squirrels, and 4 apples from the deer. Also had 4 pea pods survive the predator pickings. Our best success has been the cucumbers and tomatoes that are just coming ripe right now. Also, we have a full load of grapes, but unfortunately too many moths with them.
