05 Sep 2006 10:31 PM Managing my writing time
With two children in the house, my time for writing has become limited. I decided to wake and get up with the kids, before they went to school and start right in. I've changed my habits, too. I've had to limit my e-mail and internet group participation to later hours so that I focus on my projects and their completion. To decide how to manage my time, I create a grid on a piece of engineering pad paper. I mark off hours down the length and down the width I write the days. Then I fill in required events, like eating, weekly golf, weekly meetings and time spent with the children discussing school. Then I found the biggest block of time and grabbed it for my writing. I still do odd jobs like laundry while writing, mostly because I can only sit still for about 45 minutes. Moving gets my brain moving again, then the writing surges forth, theoretically.
