Parents Confused After Daughter Gets Booted from the Girl Scouts - Blog Entry12 Jan 2009 02:26 PM I would be very upset if this had been my child. My daughter is currently a Girl Scout and it boggles my mind that the troop leader insisted that the little girl no longer attended. First off, I don't believe that she had the authority to make that decision on her own. She should have contacted the local Council Office. Second, how dare she discriminate when she has a disabled child herself? She would most likely be just as ticked off if it had happened to her child. The Girl Scout Law claims "...to help people at all times, be considerate and caring, respect myself and others, and be a sister to every Girl Scout". Kicking the girl out of the troop is contradictory to the GS Law and it sends the wrong message to the other scouts. Father Furious After 9-Year-Old Daughter is Accused of Selling "Drugs" at School - Blog Entry12 Jan 2009 02:18 PM Our school district has the same rules, however, I don't agree with categorizing Halls cough drops as drugs and they are not labeled as such by the district. This is absolutely ridiculous and if it were my daughter, I'd want this teacher severely reprimanded and I would refuse to let her teach any of my daughter's classes. This was an absolute waste of time for the parents and the school. (Not to mention the embarrassment that this little girl was put through.) |
