When my daughter has been told several times not to do something, I do hold her in my lap for a minute (she is not yet two). While I am holding her, I attempt to explain why I removed her from the situation. Sometimes she says, "okay," and then she doesn't do it again. I think our young ones sometimes understand more than we realize.

My mom was ALWAYS a room mother when I was in elementary school. It was fun for her, plus it was fun for me because she brought my grandmother along on many occasions. And after parties and field trips, I got to hear all of my classmates tell me how cool my mom was. It's a great confidence booster for kids.

My mom makes carb-friendly, sugar-free smoothies almost every morning (she's diabetic). She makes them with strawberries, banana, and yogurt, and my daughter LOVES them!
