I enjoy watching ANTM because I like photography, but I really respect Tyra's desire to help women who want to become models achieve it in an honest way and by staying true to themselves. Sounds cheesy, but she's a real decent chick in my book! :D Someone Owes Me $200,000 - Blog Entry01 Feb 2007 01:41 PM I just read your other blog entitled "Are WAHMs Winning the Mommy War?" and it inspired the question in me: "What would you charge if SAHMing was a paying gig?" Thanks for answering my question! :D Are WAHMS Winning the Mommy War? - Blog Entry01 Feb 2007 01:39 PM Free ride - Hmph. Thank you for this article! I contribute a sizeable amount of value to the household, and while money is a very important part of life, what I give my kids by being a WAHM is worth far more than money. I have been on both sides, because when my first was a mere six weeks I returned to work full time as the breadwinner of the family. I know how it feels to be providing a free ride for my other half, and I do my best to offset the fact that my current partner pays all the bills by being a wonderful mother and a commited partner. Diaper Free Baby - Blog Entry01 Feb 2007 08:45 AM Bonnie- I've never seen it mentioned in Mothering magazine, but there is a forum for EC on MDC :D Tattoos, Piercings, and Mohawks (Oh, My) - Blog Entry01 Feb 2007 08:35 AM The young lady that cuts my lunch meat at the grocery store is incredibly pierced and heavily made up - and the sweetest person as well! I'm 24, and I have a nose ring, tattoos and two girls. My girls have definitely settled me down a lot, but not so much that I didn't pierce my own lip three years ago. One day I took it out and just never put it back, but I could if I wanted. When it was in, my boss would occasionally ask me to take it out, but never made a huge fuss. It really *is* a board-of-heath violation when working around food, but it's also a matter of asking someone to be something they're not ;) Remedies for Colic - Blog Entry31 Jan 2007 03:11 PM I was young when I had my first, and didn't know a lot of the great ways to get a fussy baby to calm themselves, so I remember running out to the store for mylicon or driving her around at night to get her to sleep. But I don't rememberher being nearly as fussy as my second. It was five years ago, so there is a lot I don't remember. But good lord - this baby is more sensitive and needy, and we actually use the blowdryer at least once daily to calm her. It is like an off switch, I swear! Calms her right down. Even in the car she gets annoyed if I stop at a light LOL, but the blowdryer works every time. She is NOT colicky at all, just demanding and sensitive (besides she's still only 3 months, I'm hoping this changes soon). Anyway, white noise is my friend!!! Creating a Greener Home for Your Baby - Blog Entry30 Jan 2007 09:42 PM I'm glad you mentioned An Inconvenient Truth - that movie/documentary is so inspiring! I wanted to run around telling any one I saw to see it LOL Four ideas to save on the cost of child raising. - Blog Entry30 Jan 2007 08:11 PM Interesting -- I just wrote a similar article in the Pregnancy Blog! :) Budgeting for Baby - Article30 Jan 2007 08:30 AM I disagree with two statements here: 1.) hand-pumps worked wonderful for me and many people I know. I used them while working full time with my first daughter and they were more discreet and easier to use at work. I would recommend them over electric pumps for most moms. 2.)There's really no reason that a person can't easily make their baby food at home with a food processor. Since babies shouldn't really be given solids until after 7 months, and then not until after they can chew or gum food, you could really just feed them very soft food right off of your own plate. I did grind food and freeze it for my first and had plenty stored for just an occasion that there wouldn't be something "healthy" enough for her to eat from my plate ;) What You Need to Know about Soy Formula - Blog Entry27 Jan 2007 11:42 AM Estrogen is a concern I had over soy formula, or soy milk, as I gave to my first after she weaned, thinking it better than cow's milk. The real concern I had, however, was that soy products are INCREDIBLY processed foods, and that alone renders them unhealthy in my eyes! I will not be giving my younger soy milk. My older has excema, so she gets neither soy nor cow's- instead I give her goat's almond, or rice milk sparingly. But mostly, she just drinks water ;) |
