I disagree with two statements here: 1.) hand-pumps worked wonderful for me and many people I know. I used them while working full time with my first daughter and they were more discreet and easier to use at work. I would recommend them over electric pumps for most moms. 2.)There's really no reason that a person can't easily make their baby food at home with a food processor. Since babies shouldn't really be given solids until after 7 months, and then not until after they can chew or gum food, you could really just feed them very soft food right off of your own plate. I did grind food and freeze it for my first and had plenty stored for just an occasion that there wouldn't be something "healthy" enough for her to eat from my plate ;)
