But I love watching junky rooms transformed into gleaming organized spaces in the space of a half an hour. It gives me hope for my own house. At the beginning of each show, host Gail O’Neill tours a disorganized room in a family home. She then sends in a professional organizer to work with the family. The show has a team of organizers and a few guest organizers. I’ve seen shows on garages, kitchens, bedrooms, playrooms, family rooms, … Continue reading

How To: Learning to Do it Yourself

Many people don’t think they have the time or the ability to become do it yourself homeowners, but any homeowner can learn to do at least some things around the house. It is very rewarding and it’s also a great way to save a lot of money. If you’re worried about not having time, consider the fact that you have to sit around waiting for a repairman or contractor to arrive even if you do hire someone else to do the work. Trash Becomes Treasure

Have you seen the new show “Junk Brothers” on HGTV? I caught it the other night for the first time. These two brothers grab furniture left on the curb with the trash, and take it to their shop for a revamp. They go all out and when they’re done, the items are hardly recognizable. Then, they return the new and improved version to the home where they found it, ring the doorbell, and take off. They watch from the distance as delighted homeowners come out and examine their work. Shows like “Junk Brothers” and “Trash to Treasure” are so cool. … Continue reading
