Axl Rose of Guns N’ Roses Calls Out Dr. Pepper

I was surprised that the new Guns N’ Roses CD Chinese Democracy came out before I died of old age. You would think Axl Rose, the only remaining member of the original Guns N’ Roses, would be in a good place right now. After working on “Chinese Democracy” for 14 years, Rose seems to have done the impossible – garnered decent reviews on an album whose expectations were naturally overblown. But, happy he is not. The guys at Dr. Pepper apparently thought they would get in on the hoopla of the release by issuing a statement that “if” Chinese Democracy … Continue reading

How Much Do You Incorporate Your Pets Into Your Lifestyle?

A while back in another article I asked how much your pets influence different aspects of your lifestyle, from work to home life. But now I’m wondering about how much you incorporate your pets into your lifestyle. I got to thinking about it when I came across a cartoon in a Woman’s World magazine. These two ladies were standing in front of a refrigerator in what was supposed to be one of their kitchens. Pinned to the refrigerator was artwork of paw prints. The one lady’s saying to the other, “No, we don’t have kids. That’s our dog’s art work.” … Continue reading

Dr. Pepper Makes Good on Its Chinese Democracy Promise

It’s not that everyone hasn’t has faith that Guns N’ Roses leader Axl Rose would eventually produce his long promised Chinese Democracy album. Well, okay, maybe it was. Axl, the lone survivor of the original Guns N’ Roses band, has been working on Chinese Democracy since 1994. You read that right – he’s been working on this album for thirteen years. Since then, the band has gone through many different lineups, with Axl remaining the only constant. The whole Chinese Democracy thing has become a bit of joke in the rock world if not the entire world. Proof positive came … Continue reading

Celebrities Doing Time: Adler, Kardashian, and Doherty

There are quite a few celebrities looking at doing time this week. Let’s catch up: Steven Adler – Former drummer for Guns N’ Roses If you know Steven Adler’s history, it will probably come as no surprise, but he was arrested earlier this morning on drug charges in Los Angeles. Adler was actually fired from the band Guns N’ Roses at the height of its success back in 1989 for his drug addition. Apparently, learning nothing from losing his meal ticket, Adler continued to do drugs. He suffered a stroke after he injected a speedball in 1996 and still has … Continue reading

Immortalized in Song

I was sitting here today watching VH1’s Rockfest. I had tons of other things to do, but I figured I needed a break. One of the first videos I saw was “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses. What a beautiful love song by a band that typically sang about…well, not so beautiful things. I began thinking about hit songs written about women. You may not know it, but “Sweet Child O’ Mine” was written about Axl Rose’s then girlfriend Erin Everly. Erin was the daughter of Everly Brother Don and niece of Everly Brother Phil. As lovely as … Continue reading

Christmas Cards, Letters, or Pictures: Which Represents You as a Couple?

Our first Christmas as a married couple, which would have been December 1995, I started the tradition of sending out Christmas cards for both Wayne and I. Back then I picked cards with funny or clever pictures, wrote a short, quick note to the recipients, and mailed them. Christmas 1999 marked the first time I attempted a Christmas letter, which I’d previously never had much respect for. Most of the ones we received painted an entirely too rosy picture of friends and family living entirely too perfect lives. We knew the letters meant well but were stretching things a bit. … Continue reading
