Creating a Fitness Routine that Works for You

Fall is fast approaching. You can tell by the slight nip in the air, the myriad of school buses on city streets and the huge banners flying high outside of practically every gym in town offering huge discounts to new members. Along with January (can you say New Year’s resolution?) September is the month gym owners say they see the most visitors. With summer coming to a close and the new school year beginning many people are motivated to jump start or return to a regular fitness routine. If you have been holding off on starting a new exercise program … Continue reading

Break Out of Your Fitness Rut

Fall doesn’t officially arrive until September 22nd, but there is no reason to wait another 10 days to kick-start a new exercise routine. By shifting gears and altering your weekly workout regime (even a tad), you’ll see results faster and avoid frustrating ruts and plateaus. Getting Fit Before the First Flake Falls

So many people wait until New Year’s Eve to make a resolution to get into better shape. “Mommy! Come see! Come see! There’s a red leaf on the tree!” That was what woke me up yesterday morning and here we are – October 1. Autumn officially started last month, of course, but for some reason it doesn’t feel like autumn until the leaves actually change color or we flip the calendar page to the month of October. What a Time of Year I love the autumn. It’s a welcome respite from the heat of the summer here in Texas. Though, I admit, we only had one really bad month of heat this year. September was very crisp … Continue reading

Five for Fitness: Tuesday, September 5th

Today is Tuesday, September the 5th and here in Texas it has finally cooled off. At least in my part of Texas and since we’ve been under brutal heat and severe water restrictions, the cooling off is literally a breath of fresh air. In just a couple of weeks, we’ll celebrate the Autumn Equinox – the time when the hours of night and the hours of day are equal and then the nights will gradually grow longer, the days even colder and it will be Winter. Do I sound as though I am romanticizing it? Probably. But I do enjoy … Continue reading
