Latest Hollywood Craze: Drumstick Smashing

I’m always amazed by the power behind a drummer. They bang at those drums with every ounce of strength they have, sometimes for hours at a time. It not only produces a cool sound but it looks like a great workout. Well what do you know? Banging drums has become one of the latest crazes to hit Hollywood. First it was pole dancing, then it was Zumba and now it is drumstick-smashing. The drumsticks are either wood or weighted and participants in the class will repeatedly hit the ground to fast-paced music such as rock or hip-hop. It works up … Continue reading

Dennis Hopper Gets Hollywood Star

Actor Dennis Hopper got a much deserved star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame this week. But, it was obvious to anyone that saw pictures taken at the event that the actor is in failing health. The gaunt actor, who is suffering from prostate cancer, had to be helped on stage by a friend. His right arm and eye were bandaged, something Hopper attributed to a fall outside his home. Hopper appeared on the Walk of Fame surrounded by family, friends, and colleagues Friday. A tour bus drove by during the ceremony, with the tour guide saying, “We love … Continue reading

Kim Kardashian Is Single Again and Madame Tussauds Hits Hollywood

It seems like I just remember reading Kim Kardashian say that she and Reggie Smith were headed for the alter, but in their own time. I should have known they were going to break up because a statement like that always seems like the kiss of death for a celebrity relationship. Kim announced today that she and Reggie, a running back for the New Orleans Saints, were parting ways after two years of dating. What went wrong with the romance? We may never know for sure, but friends say the two were separated by their careers. Reggie is set to … Continue reading

Are Dogs Taking Over Hollywood?

Recently I’ve noticed something that I don’t think I’ve ever seen happen before: an upsurge in the release of dog movies. I’m not exactly sure what’s going on, but all of a sudden it seems like dogs are taking over Hollywood. Take a look at what I mean. Since October, look at how many dog movies that are either already out or are soon to be released: Beverly Hills Chihuahua When I first saw the previews for this movie, I did what I think a lot of people did: rolled my eyes and said, “Oh my goodness, they really will … Continue reading

Sarah Palin’s Hollywood Job Offers

If things don’t work out in the world of politics Sarah Palin can always cash in on the myriad of job offers coming her way from Hollywood. The 44-year-old Republican governor of Alaska turned vice presidential candidate has been the recipient of dozens of recent high profile job offers, including one from Playboy boss Hugh Hefner, who has repeatedly asked the mother of five (and soon-to-be grandmother) to strip naked in the famous men’s magazine. I’m pretty sure the famous hockey mom put that offer on ice… at least for now. Another offer on the table for Palin comes courtesy … Continue reading

Massive Blaze Ravages Popular Movie Studio

King Kong may have met his match (no pun intended) when a massive fire tore through his popular exhibit this morning destroying three quarters of it. According to news reports, right now damage to Universal Studios Hollywood is still being assessed but firefighters say a sizeable portion of the place where movie magic happens has either been destroyed or damaged. Fire officials confirm that at least one building has burned and as many as three blocks of movie facades are now ash. Fire investigators have not determined what caused the blaze but say it broke out just before dawn on … Continue reading

Tristi’s Favorite Musicals

I grew up watching musicals. I love Doris Day, Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire – in fact, there are very few movie stars from Hollywood’s golden era that I don’t like. There’s just nothing like a man and woman gazing into each other’s eyes and then breaking into song. Some of my all-time favorite musicals are, in no particular order: “Oklahoma!” Who could forget Shirley Jones in her first role as shy and idealistic Laurie, caught up in her feelings for that rascally cowboy, Curly? “Show Boat” took on a tough topic – that of race discrimination – and brought us … Continue reading

Writers Strike—Is There an End in Sight?

We should know by the end of the day. Later this morning writers and Hollywood producers will resume talks regarding contract negotiations. In the meantime, picketing by some of TV biggest stars and writers continues in Los Angeles and New York.
