Weight a Minute! Avoiding Exhaustion

Well, I’m delighted to announce that I weighed in at 255.8. After an entire month of hitting the gym and not losing an ounce, it’s very nice to finally see the scale show some results. This brings my total weight loss to 18 pounds. It’s interesting to me just how this came about. Like I mentioned, I’ve been at the gym five days a week for the last month. I’ve done thirty minutes on the recumbent bike, which is a distance of between 5.06 and 5.41 miles, depending on how fast I pedal, and it burns anywhere from 140-150 calories. … Continue reading

Week in Review: Fresh Starts to Who’s Happy

This week I touched on five topics: Fresh starts for your new year, finding moderation in your Christian walk, the execution of Saddam Husain, having faith in God, acknowledging Christians are not perfect and I also shared information gathered from a study regarding the happiest people in the United States. When I first felt the presence of the Holy Spirit impact my life in an amazing way, I was … Continue reading

It has positive effects on your immune system and it keeps your stress levels low and helps reduce the devastating effects that stress can have on your body. Now here’s the kicker – if you exercise to excess, you can be as destructive if not more so than if you weren’t exercising at all. Too much exercise can damage your bones, your joints and your muscles. It can also cover up problems that you did not even … Continue reading

Don’t Binge on Exercise

I’ve talked about this before, but there’s a mentality to fitness that can healthy, but performed in the extreme – it’s anything but. I’ve never been a fan of deprivation diets. By the same token I’ve never been a fan of binge exercising either. We’ve all done it though, we’ve all felt like we weren’t meeting a program or goals and serious enough about our exercise. You know who you are. You have trouble staying motivated. You likely work out once a week – maybe twice. You push yourself really hard on those days because you didn’t work out on … Continue reading
