Entertainment Weekly just listed its 50 favorite movie villains. You know, the bad guys that we love to hate. But, they also got hammered for leaving some fan favorites out. Who made their top 50 list? (Warning, if you haven’t seen all these movies, there may be some spoilers mentioned) Of course, Star Wars nemesis Darth Vader was on the list. Trying to kill your own son (Luke Skywalker) and daughter (Princess Leia) certainly qualifies you to head straight to the top of the villain list. Voiced by actor James Earl Jones, Darth Vader is an iconic villain that will … Continue reading

Bed Wars

I’ve written about dominance before — alpha dogs and omega dogs especially. And a few weeks ago, I mentioned how the balance of power in my four-legged family was shifting. For a long time now, we’ve had Bed Wars. Let me set the scene. (A black sky, white stars sparkling. Text scrolls upwards, a la Star Wars.) A long time ago, in a bedroom far, far away, two dogs were at war over a very important piece of territory: the bed. He (or she) who ruled the bed ruled the universe. The bed was a land of great prosperity and … Continue reading

Pop Culture Potpourri: Star Wars TV and Colbert For President

STAR WARS TV “Star Wars” fans have reason to celebrate–The Force may soon be coming to your living room. Yesterday George Lucas told The Los Angeles Times that he is planning a live-action television series spin-off of the “Star Wars” film franchise. But, don’t look for the TV show to include the film’s major characters. “The Skywalkers aren’t in it, and it’s about minor characters,” Lucas told the Times. Lucas revealed that the series is in the “beginning stages,” and declined to provide additional details. Though, he did hint that the series would be about “the life of robots.” In … Continue reading

Disney-MGM – The Jedi Show

The Star Wars weekends may be over, but one of their most popular features is about to become a permanent attraction at Disney-MGM Studios at Walt Disney World. As a Star Wars fan, I’m excited about this. Disney is working on completing construction of a new stage for the Star Wars Jedi Training Academy. It will be located on a large patio area that is outside the Star Tours attraction. At this time, Disney officials haven’t commented on whether the construction will be removing the AT-AT Walkers or the Ewok Forest. Hopefully not, but papers were filed with Orange County … Continue reading

Fitness Journal – Welcome Back from the Weekend

Welcome back to my personal fitness journal and I hope you had a great weekend. One of my primary goals is to demonstrate how you can incorporate fitness into your every day lifestyle whether you have kids, you work out of your house or you work in an office. I’ve discovered over the last couple of years that while working with a personal trainer was a powerful motivator for me, I had … Continue reading

Disney’s Star Wars Weekends

Last weekend marked the 30th anniversary since Star Wars: A New Hope premiered on movie theater screens. I actually remember that weekend, it was the first movie my mother ever took me to see. I called her to say thank you. A few years later, when Disney-MGM Studios in Florida premiered their Star Tours Adventures, my grandmother drove a 1,000 miles out of her way on the spur of the moment to take me to the parks for a day trip – just so I could go on the ride. Star Wars Fans This June, Star Wars fans will enjoy … Continue reading

Pop Culture Potpourri: The Green Prince and A “Star Wars” Marathon

THE GREEN PRINCE Prince Charles has made headlines for being “green,” but the environmentally friendly future king of England may have a hard time topping this next move. Less than 24 hours ago Madame Tussauds unveiled a new wax figure of Prince Charles to reflect his efforts to combat climate change. Workers at the museum designed a one-of-a-kind “green” version of the Prince of Wales by recycling wax from a 1989 figure of the royal and updated it with 82 pounds of organic beeswax, 55 pounds of clay and fiberglass. Artists also used organic pigments to color the skin. But … Continue reading
