Rainn Wilson Speaks Out about Baha’i

It seems to be celebrity week to speak out about a cause or in this case, a persecuted religion. No, no, Tom Cruise is not defending Scientology again; I am talking about The Office’s Rainn Wilson and Baha’i. Rainn recently wrote a commentary for CNN about Baha’i. At first, I thought “Is this a joke?” because 99.9% of what Rainn does is (and he’s very good at it!), but no, this seems for real. (This file, by StaceyD, is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported License) Rainn, who was raised in the Baha’i faith, decided to write the … Continue reading

Brenda’s Back on “Beverly Hills” and “The Office” Spinoff

She’s baaaaack! The rumors are true… Shannen Doherty is returning to the zip code that made her infamous. Show producers just announced that the actress, who played the twin sister to Jason Priestley’s character Brandon Walsh for four seasons on the original “Beverly Hills, 90210,” will return as Brenda Walsh when the CW’s new spinoff “90210” debuts in September. Doherty’s rep told reporters that the actress is “looking forward” to returning to her roots. Doherty’s character Brenda will reportedly be a visiting drama teacher who directs a musical at West Beverly High School. “High School Musical” West Beverly style? Doherty … Continue reading

Here’s When New Episodes of Your Favorite TV Shows Will Begin Airing

Ding-dong the witch is dead. I mean the writer’s strike is officially over… time to grab the remote and reclaim your favorite spot on the couch. Your favorite stars are heading back to work and new episodes of your favorite shows will begin airing in the next few weeks. Actually, it might be a couple months before we learn the fate of characters on Wisteria Lane and in emergency rooms in Chicago and Seattle since it will take a while for stalled shows to get new episodes written, rehearsed, shot and edited. Other shows are done for the season (a … Continue reading

What Hollywood Stars Are Doing During the Writers’ Strike

We know they aren’t shooting new episodes of their hit shows so how are the stars of our favorite primetime series’ spending their time off? If you are Desperate Housewives’ star Marcia Cross you are spending time in Washington lobbying Congress to pass the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act of 2007. The 45-year-old mother of twins recently spent time on Capitol Hill voicing her opinion regarding “drive-through” mastectomies for women forced to leave the hospital hours after surgery. The actress tried to encourage lawmakers to give women the choice to recuperate for at least 48 hours following the invasive surgery. … Continue reading

Writers Strike Update: So Long to “The Office” and “24”

Can’t we all just get along? It’s Day 4 of the writers strike and the news doesn’t look good for TV fans. In addition to the shows I listed in my previous blog, producers say the writers strike has now claimed the Fox thriller “24.” Executives at Fox say they have removed the show from its midseason schedule. Producers say the show will return when it can air uninterrupted. Like most series written by members of the Writers Guild of America, “24” simply doesn’t have enough scripts to sustain a full season. Which means programming execs have had to do … Continue reading

Must See TV: “The Office” Considers Expansion and Whale Attacks Man

Good news for fans of NBC’s “The Office.” The mega-popular TV comedy is looking to expand. According to TV Guide, network execs are reportedly planning to introduce new characters to the world of Dunder Mifflin; characters that may end up spinning off from the original series and getting their own show. TV Guide is reporting that a “major” Hollywood name is being considered for the lead role in the new series. While the brass at the peacock network has not released an official statement, insiders say producers are already prepping an “Office” episode that will introduce the new characters to … Continue reading

“The Office” Convention—Are You Going?

Yet, another reason to visit Pennsylvania (as if I haven’t given you enough already). Residents of Scranton, Pennsylvania brace yourselves… Die-hard fans of NBC’s hit show “The Office” will soon be invading your neighborhoods. This weekend the city where the fictitious Emmy Award-winning sitcom is set is hosting a gigantic shindig for every one of its loyal fans that dares to show up. While the concept for the blowout is funny, the party is no joke. The inaugural “Office Convention” is the real deal and promises to be as quirky as the show itself. Event organizers say fans will be … Continue reading

The Office: Truly an American Workplace

Oddly enough, when picking a “favorite” television show, I usually fall headfirst in love with dramas that are borderline sci-fi or fantasy. After all, last season, my love for Lost began. Years before that, it was X-Files. In its first two seasons, I was a huge Smallville fan. So this year, I’ve found myself at an odd place. My favorite TV show this year doesn’t feature unseen island monsters or aliens that may or may not be alien-like in appearance. No. The strangest thing about this series is probably a character by the name of Dwight Schrute. And he may … Continue reading
