Parents in Ohio Irate About Ban on Cheerleaders’ Short Skirts

Is your daughter a cheerleader? If so, does her cheerleading uniform include a super short skirt? If you wince every time you see your daughter don her revealing uniform then you know exactly how administrators at Monroe High School in Ohio feel when they see teen cheerleaders wearing their short skirts to class prior to football games. All that leg was a bit too much for educators in the district, who recently banned cheerleaders from wearing their uniforms on school property during normal school hours. According to the Monroe High School’s principal, allowing the teens to wear the “short, tight, … Continue reading

It’s revolutionary fashion that could save your life… Unless you are in the military or are a member of the outdoor sporting community then you probably have never heard of BlackHawk brand clothing. However, if you or a loved one is placed in a highly hostile environment–trust me–there is nothing you would rather be wearing. The Best-Dressed Cops

And the winners are… Washington State Patrol troopers. And you thought fashion awards were reserved exclusively for the likes of Halle Berry and Julia Roberts. If you have ever been pulled over for speeding in “The Evergreen State” then you might not be surprised to learn that the state patrol there has just been named America’s “Best-Dressed State Law Enforcement Agency” by the National Association of Uniform Manufacturers and Distributors. U is for Uniforms

Yes, I know, uniform is stretching it where fitness is concerned, but I have a fitness uniform that I wear and I think many people do. Your uniform doesn’t have to have a name tag or a specific color scheme, but it does need to put you in the right mindset for your fitness routine. In general my uniform consists of: Shorts – I prefer shorts to pants when I am walking or working out because I get very hot, very quickly. Pants can increase my body temperature and if I am sweating over much, they get soaked through and … Continue reading

Concerns of Public Education: U = Uniforms

Uniform policies are a concern in many school districts. My school system does not require or enforce a school uniform policy. However, we do have a dress code policy. Many districts are concerned about student attire and placing a uniform policy into effect. Some school officials feel that uniforms would cut down on concealed weapons and drugs in the schools, especially in middle school and high school. Others believe that having a school wide dress uniform policy would cut down on social competition among the students. Students could focus more on academics than social status and appearance. However, placing a … Continue reading

Calling The Fashion Police

The fashion police are coming to the rescue—of a distant cousin. Scotland Yard is getting a visit from the fashionably fit. In what some are calling a “historic moment” the iconic bobby’s uniform worn by members of the British police force is getting a makeover. According to the Metropolitan Police, the force has recruited students from the London College of Fashion, whose alumni includes celebrity shoemaker Jimmy Choo, to help redesign the uniform for the 21st century. For years police officers have complained that their foot-high helmets topple when they chase suspects. Proving that while the uniforms may be stylish … Continue reading

Revenge of the Homeschooling Uniforms

I am sure that if you have heard about homeschooling, you have heard about the homeschooling uniform. You know the old stereotypes. The moms wear denim smock dresses, the boys wear thrift store jeans, and the girls wear miniature versions of moms drab wear. Well, none of the homeschooling moms I know actually dress like that. There are more jeans, t-shirts, and sweat suits in my neck of the woods. (With the exceptions of the handful of puritans, I run into at homeschool fairs). Anyway, I wanted to discuss dressing our homeschooled kids. I think it is absolutely cool that … Continue reading
