Smart Solutions for Non Recyclables - Blog Entry

03 Aug 2008 07:21 AM

I've seen old plastic shopping bags re-birthed into -- what else -- recycled shopping bags, at Target. I haven't quite been able yet to wrap my head around that idea, by buying them. But I do agree it's a good re-use of materials. I always re-cycle my plastic bags, but I don't know if I'll try crocheting them (I doubt mine would turn out that great.). I prefer canvas tote bags from grocery stores or other businesses.

Do You Have a Room of Your Own? - Blog Entry

Nah, not decorated in any special way. Everything is just set in its place, convenient but yet, enjoyable for me. I have some Elvis framed posters, Elvis dolls people have given me (are you sensing a *theme*? LOL), some Asian art, family photos, and other cherished tchotchkes on my desk and dresser. I have a beautiful, decorated wooden cross on top of my desk. :-) That gives me a special peace and happiness.

My bedroom is *my* oasis. I love to just lay in bed, listen to the radio or read, and just vedge out, not doing or thinking about anything important, no one bothering me. With my dog curled up by me, all's right with the world. :-) I'll address "important" things later.

Save $1,700 a Year on Water - Blog Entry

I do. It's convenient for me, especially when I can't get easily and quickly to the sink I've mentioned before that I'm recovering from foot surgery, which is why I use bottled water more so now, than ever. I also take bottles with me on the bus. I do drink the water at work, as they have a great system.I even have a cool reusable water bottle there. I drink tap water at home too, sometimes. But the bottled water works well for my lifestyle overall.

My Life with the Sink Monster - Blog Entry

Got a recipe for that, Mary Ann? :-) Maybe your sink monster would depart your home after a bowl of Dawn and granola? LOL

Do people still tend to have sink monsters, even if they have a dishwasher?

Sink monster?? LOL I wish I had one of those instead. I have a clothes dryer monster, which likes to occasionally bite holes in t-shirts and such. Maybe I should set out a dish of chocolate ice cream for it, so maybe we can call a truce.

Six Reasons to Grocery Shop in the Morning 3 - Blog Entry

I reduce costs by not only making lists and looking for deals, but by buying things I *know* I'll use (in a reasonable time frame). By doing that, stuff won't end up in the trash, or given away.

New Milk Containers Save Money - Blog Entry

I didn't know about this new container, thanks! I'll have to look out for it. I love milk, and drink it daily. Powdered is fine. But I do like the occasional regular container of moo juice. It would be great if more merchants offered this new size. But maybe they can't make room in the store. Luckily, I'm already an SC member.

That sounds like such a fabulous idea! Thanks! I might make some for my nieces and nephews, and for kids of friends. :-) What a super idea for gifts, especially if I can find neat molds to use.

Secrets of the Retail Clearance Racks - Blog Entry

16 Jul 2008 05:04 PM

I once got a $269 comforter set for a mere $2. Yes, two dollars. The store had marked it down a couple of times for clearance. But then they had a day when all red ticket clearance items were $2, regardless of what the original or other clearance prices were on the items. I got a 3-piece set of luggage for $2 as well! It pays to dig and scour the store, as well as to speak to the sales staff. I used to work at a retail store, still shop there, and I sometimes get a warning about the really awesome deals, not long for this world.
