After I posted my comment the other day, I did indeed find the frugal brownie recipe wrote about in February. Since brownies (frosted, with nuts, no less) are one of my favorite indulgences, I will absolutely try out the idea you mentioned. With my niece and nephew moving soon to my state from across the country, I think this will be a fun idea to try out for them. I've always been way partial to chocolate chip cookies, as are most kids (right?), so I think I'll experiement in that vein. I haven't had lunch yet.
