Frugal Spa at Home: Even More Natural Solutions - Blog Entry

08 Mar 2009 08:55 AM

I just happened upon this topic, so please forgive me if you've already covered this tip: Use brown sugar as an exfoliating scrub. Since most facial scrubs make me sick, I tried brown sugar. Either in the shower or over the sink, wet your face. Take about a tablespoon of brown sugar in your hand, and gently scrub it over your face. Make sure to rinse well. Then cleanse face as usual. Voila! Cheap. I think a bag of brown sugar costs less than $3, and it lasts forever!

What Turns You on? - Blog Entry

:-) No teasing from ME! I'm on the same page with you, actually. I love a well-dressed man, especially when he's in a suit or a uniform. Casual dress can be a turn-on too, if it's neat and done right. When I was at my brother's Air Force fancy banquet, I was in Heaven, what, with so many men in their dress uniforms. I'm a very proud and patriotic American. But those uniforms work for me! ;-)

Frugal Homemade Seasoning Recipes - Blog Entry

Thanks for the ideas for seasonings! I would love to find some for, say, mixing into pastas, hot dishes (or, as the rest of the country/non-Minnesotans call them, "casseroles"), chicken dishes, etc. I heard that KFC's "secret recipe" is pretty much dry ranch dressing mix, with a few other things thrown in. But never tried that yet. I don't do fried foods often at all, for obvious health reasons. Do you know of some other seasonings we could make at home? Thanks! :-)

YouTube Depression Era Cooking - Blog Entry

I'm not sure how a 93-year-old woman gets on YouTube, but I find it awesome. If I could view YouTube at work right now, I would watch her clips. Alas, I'll have to wait for another time at the library. I bet she has some fabulous info and stories! Thanks, Mary Ann!

Just Because You Are You - Blog Entry

So true, so true. I've been thinking along these lines lately, interestingly enough. While I'm not married, I am open to the idea of meeting a special man, who would accept me for *me*, and who will I accept for who *he* is. I totally understood where you were going with the reference to the Shakespearean sonnet, especially since I studied his work in college, and still enjoy it now. I care about people around me for who they are, not because of superficial things. Attraction is a funny thing, and one's personality and everything else can override anything you may think about physical attributes. You may just find yourself growing fond of them, anyway. A great gift doesn't always present itself in the shiniest paper and fanciest bows. :-)

Fashion Frugalista Alert: Oxford Heels - Blog Entry

21 Jan 2009 11:08 AM

I wish I could wear these shoes! Alas, heels on the verge of three inches are evil to my feet, simply evil. I love the look, though. But it seems to be too high of a heel for what I'd be able to withstand comfortably. I'll still take a look at Payless, and on their site. Thanks! I'd also suggest checking out Amazon.com and Zappos.com for this style. Thank you for the idea of coupon codes. I so often forget to check around for those.

How to Win the Competition for Grocery Bargains 2 - Blog Entry

19 Jan 2009 12:20 PM

What I'd love to do, is to get the Super Targets (which carry groceries, for those of you who are unaware) to honor competitors' coupons. I once asked at least 2 cashiers if my local ST did that, but nope, no dice. However, this same ST was very prompt and friendsly when issuing me a raincheck for something I had desperately been looking for. I only had to wait about another week or two before they got more in stock, so all was right with the world. But HANG ONTO your rainchecks. Put them in a safe place, somewhere you will remember, and where they won't get smashed or ripped, eaten by Fido. :-)
