But it was for errands, and not Christmas shopping. The crowds were the worst at Kohl's, where all I did was use the restroom and look at handbags (my biggest weakness, but I didn't buy a thing). Then it was time for lunch, on which I spent less than $10. Target wasn't even so bad. I was able to get through the store with ease, finding my few items, and check out in an express lane. It was busy, but not as packed and line crazy as Kohl's. Traffic at the time I went was like a typical weekend, and I stayed in my area, only traveling a few miles. I had an agenda again this year and stuck to it. The temtations were there, for sure. But I stuck to my list/agenda, and went out the door from home with an extra dose of patience. I found that most people who I encountered were quite upbeat and nice, even if some had been shopping for many more hours than I had been. Unfortunately, despite all the positives, I still got a bad headache. Such is life. 7 Frugal Reasons I Won't Be Going Shopping on Black Friday (2) - Blog Entry28 Nov 2008 04:30 AM Yes!! Just like any other day, but *especially* on Black Friday, there's the risk of overspending and buying things you just don't need. 7 Frugal Reasons I Won't Be Going Shopping on Black Friday - Blog Entry26 Nov 2008 05:45 PM Can you believe that a certain store chain is opening at FOUR a.m. on Friday??? That's just plain ridiculous. Not even if they were giving away dates with handsome famous actors with every purchase, would I shop on Friday, much less, at 4 a.m. No deal is that worth it. *Unless* those actors were handing out Yorkshire Terrier puppies. :-) 7 Ideas for Frugal Date Night - Blog Entry26 Nov 2008 05:18 PM I just realized, in the title, it states "7" ideas. But within the first paragraph, it mentions "10". :-) Quick, author lady! Add 3 more, or I'll never be able to ask this one guy out! LOL 7 Ideas for Frugal Date Night - Blog Entry25 Nov 2008 05:07 PM Hmmm... I like this article of yours a lot! :-) Gives me some great money-saving ideas. I want to ask this one gentleman out, but I sometimes just cannot think of date ideas, frugal or not. LOL I'll have to let you know if any of your ideas work! If not, you're in trouble, author lady! ;-) (kidding!) Practical Gifts for a Frugal Family - Blog Entry14 Nov 2008 03:41 PM I plan on giving everyone the "gift" of my humor! ;-) Seriously, I'm not entirely sure what I'll do. Decorative sewing projects from re-purposed fabrics and materials, grocery store gift cards, too, perhaps. But like with everyone else, things are tighter this year, more so than ever. I'm very blessed, so maybe I'll spend more on my sister than anyone else. She's losing her job due to a layoff, and worst of it -- her last day is the day *after Christmas*. I think she'd appreciate a gas or grocery gift card, no matter the amount. Now, if she finds a new job before Christmas, she's not getting a thing from me! ;-) (kidding!) Beware of Free Group Scams - Blog Entry10 Nov 2008 05:52 AM Thanks for the info! I've never used those types of web sites before. But it's always good to get tips and reminders like those you gave, in case we do decide to use the "free" sites. My Love/Hate Relationship with the Fall Leaves - Blog Entry06 Nov 2008 04:59 PM The leaves started changing late in maybe September. Can't recall for sure. Fall lasts about 3 months, progressing faster and faster, once leaves start dropping. The trees outside of my office that I referred to, are not the same as all the others in the area. So, there are still leaf-toting trees. But barely hangin on. They all should be bare by the end of November-early December, for sure. My Love/Hate Relationship with the Fall Leaves - Blog Entry06 Nov 2008 06:58 AM Btw, cool new picture, Mary Ann! :-) I love the fall leaves too. For the most part. Here in the land of Prince and megamalls, it gets so beautiful when Fall comes. But the trees right outside my office are pretty bare right now, yikes. You know what's coming! Granted, the cleanup of the leaves can be a chore. But I think it's MUCH better than shoveling snow. I once visited a close friend of mine out east. She and I and a few others raked leaves in her yards. It remains one of the most memorable, special times of my life, and in such a gorgeous part of (also) New England. If I could, I'd go back out east to visit her and her family right now, to help once again raking leaves. For free. Well, maaaybe for just a cup of hot cocoa. ;-) Thanksgiving Meat Loaf - Blog Entry03 Nov 2008 05:04 PM Mmmm!!! :-D I LOVE meatloaf, so I think I'll try this one. I wonder if using a reduced fat cheese would still work. I love ketchup, so using it on the meatloaf sounds great to me. My mom has always used crushed Saltine cracker crumbs in her meatloaf. I'll have to see what stuffing instead would taste like. Thanks for the recipe! |
