Getting Creative with Almost-Expired Food - Blog Entry

30 Aug 2008 07:55 AM

What I often do is, write the expiration/best if used by date *and* the date I *opened* the item for the 1st time right on the product. A good permanent marker works, or a Post-it taped or rubber banded to the item. I do this especially with chicken stock, Miracle Whip Light (1 of my fave food items), rice, baking soda, tea, and any cooking and baking oils.

Going on Clutter Patrol - Blog Entry

Oh, he FINDS my socks, alright. And then proceeds to race into the living room and under the couch WITH those socks. I need to work harder on teaching him to put them in my dresser.

Going on Clutter Patrol - Blog Entry

Alas, I am my sole Clutter Patrol, though, I try to enlist the help of the doggie. Most nights when I get home from work, I'm so very pooped out, my Clutter Patrol suffers until weekends. Not always, but all-too-often. Baby steps, though, help.

The Cost of Chocolate Candy is Rising Again - Blog Entry

27 Aug 2008 11:20 AM

I've bought them a couple of times at Sam's Club, which isn't so bad. Actually, the best deal I found so far: 56 oz. bag of peanut M&Ms for $7.70, as opposed to 45oz. bag of the same from Target for $7.79, last I checked, about a week ago. I'm not sure where else to look, in order to find a better deal, if there is one. As we speak, the basket is out. But so far, no one is angry. In the meantime, til I can get more, maybe I should bring in carrot sticks. ;-)

Oh, great. The M&Ms that I buy for my office are going up??? People do often donate to "the cause", but it's not required. Maybe I should install the candy in a vending machine, instead of a large basket. That way, people would *have* to pay for their chocolate fix. LOL That is, if they didn't get mad and walk away empty-handed. I could allways discount mine from what the lunchroom candy costs. ;-) Well, my office mates and the company wouldn't be so successful without the M&Ms, I'm sure. Better keep them comin,, or I'm in hot water! Thanx for the news, Mary Ann. Really. Thanx. :-) LOL

Home Away from Home on Vacation - Blog Entry

Forgive me, but where exactly is "the shore"? I hear QVC hosts and callers sometimes mention it. Hope your vacation is going swell! :-)

Are Reborn Babies Scary and Harmful? Continued - Blog Entry

15 Aug 2008 05:12 PM

I'm so sorry for anyone's loss of one's baby. But these "dolls" are no substitute. Being I've never been a mom, I can only relate in that I lost my dog. I know it's not like having children, but please forgive me. :-) Although I miss him terribly, I could never carry around a replica and pretend. It was one of the hardest and most heartbreaking times of my life, but thank goodness, I healed in a healthy way.

Coping with the Grocery Shrink Ray - Blog Entry

I've been diluting shampoo for years. You don't need much in the first place, and any bottle can last and last, especially when you shampoo only a couple times a week. I have shampoo that is expensive and shampoo that's inexpensive. Diluting works with both.

Building Fairy Houses - Blog Entry

11 Aug 2008 05:49 PM

Hmmm... "If you build it, they will come." Another movie reference. :-) Maybe the fairies would return my favor by showing the hawks the road out of town. I think I'll make the fairies the pixie equivalent of a multi-million dollar home. Pardon me, but I must be off to a garden center and the hardware store for supplies.... ;-)
