Designer Dogs - Blog Entry

I agree reputable breeders test for health issues in their breeding stock. So called "breeders" of these hybryrd breeds are not going to get a reputable breeder to go along with this idea. So more than often you are not going to get a pet that is sound in temperment or health. Reputable breeders have sometimes spent decades getting their breeding program to where it is and would not take a chance to ruin it or their name. I know when i first got into Great Danes. I had 12 yrs experience in Siberians and had more than that in obiedence training experience. But try to find a breeder to take a chance on me with no giant dog experiences. At that time all i wanted was a pet quality Dane. Now after 10 yrs in Danes, having two AKC CH dogs, expanding my training experiences, training therapy and service dogs... .I am having the same problem getting into Schuthund with my new puppy. Lack of experience. I just want to learn and learn things correctly. And then you have these hybryd breeds popping up left and right with no thought to the outcome. Doesnt seem fair.

Make Your Own Yogurt - Blog Entry

I have mad homemade yogurt for the past 10 yrs and my recipe is similar to yours. I make it by the gallon and use whole milk but any type will work. Heat milk up to 185 degrees using a candy thermometer. Cool to 110 degrees (I often will sit the pan in cold water to help this along) Add a couple heaping tablespoons of yogurt to the milk and stir well. Sometimes i just put in the whole small container of store bought yogurt and in a pinch have used fruit flavored and it still works. Place the milk yogurt mixture in whatever type of container you wish to store it in, even plastic works. Place in your oven on the lowest temp setting possible. Just till the light clicks on in an electric oven or just use the heat from the piloit light in a gas oven. Leave in overnight and taaaadaaaaaa in the morning you will have yogurt.
