Forgot to mention those. They are a great place to put all of our squishy blueberries. Way to Ruin Easter - Blog Entry24 Apr 2011 08:57 AM I have to protest. They're not spheres. They're really more like pointy ovals. That would make them...oh...egg-shaped? Teaching Preschoolers How to Breastfeed - Blog Entry24 Mar 2011 08:42 AM We have a Mayan breastfeeding doll that I quite like - just a little bigger than a Barbie, and the mother can be pregnant and can nurse the baby (and it will stay on, unlike trying to make your Barbies or other dolls nurse). That seems pretty normal to me. However, I don't think that we need a doll specifically made so that preschoolers can pretend to breastfeed. My daughter pretended to breastfeed all of her dolls when she was a toddler and a preschooler - yes, she did lift up her shirt and put them there. That's fine, since I volunteered for a nursing support group she saw lots of breastfeeding and she was emulating what the adults were doing. I didn't encourage or discourage it. I just figured that since she was in a phase when she was emulating all adult activities, that was one of the adult activities that she would emulate. I am sure that the people who made the doll are trying to appeal to those who breastfeed, but I don't think that the props are all that necessary. Any doll can serve the purpose, really. Just like we don't particularly need a baby doll that pees - a child can just pretend that one is using the potty. What Sort of House Cleaner Are You? - Blog Entry24 Feb 2011 09:17 AM Yes, I forgot about the guests. We're not great entertainers, but I find that even when my daughter has friends over it inspires me to do a bit of deeper cleaning. That is the reason one has guests over, isn't it? The Shopping Situation - Blog Entry23 Dec 2010 03:05 PM Thanks - from someone who sometimes works at the front desk doing retail in the holiday season. Although it doesn't really both me anymore, I've always appreciated it when people treat me as a person and not a barrier to move through on their way out! Merry Christmas! The Glory of Tape - Blog Entry09 Jun 2010 09:24 AM Hmm, band-aids as craft materials? Don't tell my daughter. She has a personal box of the things. Freecycle Giving Tips - Blog Entry04 Jun 2010 10:50 PM Hmm, I've never considered checking the offer history on Freecycle. Good idea. I also specify my general location and the fact that they need a larger vehicle to pick something up if it is required. In our area, I find that I get overwhelmed with questions when I post an item on Craigslist for a price. When it's free, there are many fewer difficult questions. Fabulous Smoothies Your Preschooler Will Drink - Blog Entry31 May 2010 02:21 PM Yes, looking forward to the blueberries myself - I get 100 lbs of them every summer. What's in Your Preschooler's Art Cabinet? - Blog Entry31 May 2010 12:15 PM I suppose that if our art cabinets are not organized, that shows us that they are used, at least! Parlez-Vous Francais? - Blog Entry21 May 2010 11:47 AM Try one of those links - I was really surprised by all of the resources out there. It's funny, my high school French comes out quite easily when I speak with my daughter, likely because I feel no stress about being perfect. |
