Valentine’s Day Freebies – 2012

Valentine’s Day is coming up soon! Often, celebrating this holiday includes spending a lot of money on chocolates, flowers, and Valentine’s Day cards. Not much can be done about the price of the candy and roses right now, but the cards are something you can save money on. Here are a few eCards that won’t cost you anything at all to send to your Valentine. Hallmark has two Valentine’s Day animated eCards that you can send for FREE. Family Movie Night: Heidi

It is harder and harder these days for me to find good entertainment for my kids that doesn’t have the affect of making them grow up too fast. Even a recent G-rated show had a couple of characters in it that, well, got busy. Although the action was never shown, it was certainly implied. Yikes. So for family movie nights, we tend to go back in time to movie classics, even those not yet in color. For example, there is Miracle on 34th Street, which, believe it or not, was a very controversial movie banned by the Catholic church for … Continue reading

Looking for a way to slim down? Why don’t you try the Heidi Montag fitness plan? All you have to do is workout for 14 hours a day for 2 months. Sounds great, right? Let me first explain who Heidi Montag is, in case you don’t know. Getting More Out of Easter Sunday

It is easy to think of the easter bunny, and candy on Easter Sunday. We might rush around to make sure our kids’ easter baskets are filled, that we’ve dyed the easter eggs, and that we’ve hidden them quietly for our children to find the next morning. But, do we put the same amount of effort into discussing with them why we are doing all of this in the first place? Is Easter really about the Easter bunny? Of course, we know it’s not. I was looking on the church website today and found some very inspirational videos that will … Continue reading

Van Johnson Checks out While Tara Reid Checks In

Okay, even I will admit that Van Johnson was a bit before my time. But, I do have fond memories of the “I Love Lucy” episode where he waltzes Lucy across the nightclub to impress Caroline Appleby. Johnson, a heartthrob from the ‘40s, died yesterday at the age of 92 of natural causes. (This work is in the public domain because it was published in the United States between 1923 and 1977, inclusive, without a copyright notice.) Johnson often appeared in roles at the All-American boy, exhibiting a charm that earned him the nickname “the non-singing Sinatra.” Through a career … Continue reading
