Of course it might be a bargain to pay $8 for a like new blouse that is a name brand that retailed originally for $60 and is only one season old, but the blouse right next to it might also be $8, very worn, low quality, and retailing for $2 on sale new at it's store of origin. Skipping Showers to Save Money - Blog Entry05 May 2010 07:29 PM When I saw your title I thought you were going to talk about skipping showers.. as in baby/bridal showers. As a young mom/wife, I seem to be going to a shower of some kind almost every weekend, and it can get expensive. :) Maybe another topic for another blog. ;) Meal Planning and Freezer Cooking - Blog Entry03 May 2010 05:47 PM I've been trying to go to the grocery store even less than usual (only about once ever 2 weeks). I found that the biggest thing we ran out of was milk, so I just started buying and extra gallon. I really believe this is saving us money because we've just been eating what we have on hand and going less just always seems to equal spending less. We just get creative when we run out of something we thought we REALLY need.. but don't, like cereal. We've been eating a lot of pancakes. :) When You Are in Love with Your Ex - Blog Entry29 Apr 2010 10:01 AM BTW.. I just realized I wrote my comment as if addressing you. I do understand you are talking about someone else. :) When You Are in Love with Your Ex - Blog Entry29 Apr 2010 10:00 AM It is so easy in many circumstances to create a FANTASY of someone else, including a long lost love. We compare this glossy fantasy to the reality of our spouse. I think it helps to stop and really put in perspective how much of what you perceive about this other person is really real. Remember that if they were in your husbands place in your life, they would see your bed head and you would know that they snore! I think this is a good time to step back and be grateful for your REAL 3D spouse and all their wonderful qualities. Go back and remember what made you fall in love with the man you're married to and remember what led to the breakup of that old fling. Frugal Living Versus Earning More Income - Blog Entry29 Apr 2010 09:17 AM I think another point to consider is your career limitations. Someone with a masters degree and significant work experience has a lot more potential income they could pursue outside the home. Whereas someone like myself, who has relatively low schooling and work experience, is probably wiser to focus on growing income through steadily decreasing spending because I would hit a glass ceiling very quickly in the work place. However, where I struggle is when/if it's time to spend the money and time and energy (all of which take away from frugal pursuits for a time) to pursue more education to increase my work potential long term. Are Your Neighbors Rich or Poor? - Blog Entry29 Apr 2010 08:44 AM SO SO true. Thanks for this reminder. Frugal Easter Tips - Blog Entry27 Apr 2010 12:42 PM You can often pull off the outer wrapping on things (that have the holiday look) and inside they are still wrapped or even if not, the candy itself usually doesn't in anyway indicate it's holiday origin. :) Curb Shopping for Others Mission - Blog Entry27 Apr 2010 12:03 PM I love this. What a wonderful way to redeem something on it's way to the dump as well as show thoughtfulness and concern for your community. God bless in your curb browsing. :) |
