I will , My 12 yo is having a tuff time with this. and I know this will help her. she reads a lot, but can never tell me what the book was about. I will then read the book and go over it with her, I also make these chapter book marks now that ask all the W's ( who what ect.) and she can write right on the book mark what she wants to remember about that chapter. but this will help her go beyond that into a greater understanding. thank you again Gasp! My Older Children Help Their Little Siblings12 Dec 2007 12:49 PM I ask my 11 year old to help her little sister 6 read but it always ends in a fight. she wants to help with my son 7 on math and he tells her hes not stupid ill get it sooner or later. so I spend most of the day bouncing back and forth. when I leave one to help the other they sit there till i come back doing nothing. how do i fix this. I called my state Edu. dept. and they told me it had not passed yet. but they also said that all children would have to go if it did no exceptions. Educational Neglect due to Homeschooling?23 Oct 2007 08:52 AM that is the sadest thing I ever read, my children were only being made fun of for their clothes and wal-mart shoes, that was enough for me to take them out. if things like that was going on I would have lost it big time, I think I would have moved away also. This Isn't What I Signed up for23 Oct 2007 08:28 AM once a week we take the children to one of the area lakes to go hiking, this works and is educational dont know what to do when snow comes, southern ohio doesn't get a whole lot of snow but it does get cold, with all but one of the children under the age of seven this is going to be my biggest hair pulling stress filled time homeschooling, cookies and hot coco lots of science. How To Estimate Reading Levels27 Aug 2007 07:56 AM my sixth grader is reading at grade level my second grader is reading at first grade level and does not like it at all. my first grader will not even try. my four year old does the story telling of picture books quite well. and my two year old repeats all his favorits to me in bed. three out of five not to bad. |
