George Barna's new book, Revolutiuonary Parenting, is all about this. It is imperative that parents take the lead role with regard to the faith development of their children. One hour on Sunday morning won't do. However Barna also points out the critical nature of the ministry of the church when he states, "...ministry to children is the single most influential ministry any church engages in.” This in a time when 85% OF Senior Pastor's do not place a priority, in the top 10, of ministry to children and their parents. My answer to your question woiuld be two-fold: First, we must heighten the awareness among churches of the importance of ministry to children and their parents. Second, we must provide opportunities and support for parents in such a way that they will be able to participate in small groups and modling ministies that allows them to learn, share, do and experience all in one.
