He is almost a dad himself, but Clay Aiken is blogging about a recent UNICEF trip he took to Somalia and Kenya. He talks about how the violence in each country has left thousands of children homeless. Even as things are looking better, many children have not returned to school. Aiken wrote, “Getting children back to school is vital for their protection, and helps build a sense of normalcy in their lives. The re-establishment of schools in the most difficult circumstances is a testament to the commitment of UNICEF and to Kenyans.” He went on to say that every child has a right to an education and that it helps break the cycle of poverty. Aiken is expecting his own bundle of joy next month.
I don’t know if you’ve seen the latest photo of Patrick Swayze (if not, you can check it out here at People), but he certainly looks a lot healthier than he has this year. Of his health, he told People “I’m a miracle dude…I don’t know why.” The 55-year-old actor is busy on the set of his upcoming A&E series “The Beast.”
The actor released a statement in April saying he was happy with the response his body had had to the chemotherapy (received because of pancreatic cancer), but celebrities rarely release less-than-positive statements when ill. However, he does look amazing given his condition. Maybe all those fan prayers are helping him!
Happy news for actress Amy Adams – she is engaged! She and her boyfriend of six years, actor/artist Darren Legallo have announced their engagement recently. Amy told People that Darren is “really special” and she’s “really lucky because he is not competitive with me.” Legallo reportedly proposed with a diamond ring designed by Jean Dousset of Beverly Hills. How did the happy couple meet? How else – in an acting class in 2001!
