Tagging: What are tags?

Have you heard of tagging? Not the type of tagging where cans of spray paint are used to create letters, symbols, and pictures on public walls and fences. I am talking about tagging on the Internet using Web sites that have tagging features included. You may have noticed on the Families.com homepage one of the four tabs at the top of page is entitled, “Tags.” It looks something like this: Have you ever clicked on the “Tags” tab? If so, you may have discovered the Families.com tag page, but been at a loss as to what this page is about … Continue reading

Need A Spiritual Boost?

I have spoken before about my experience attending Time Out for Women a few years ago. It is a great way to re-charge spiritually and get that extra boost you need to continue on your way at being a better mom, wife, and daughter of God. I loved the talks, and treasure the notes I took during them. I read them every once in a while to remember the spiritual thoughts I had during those talks. I especially loved hearing Hillary Weeks. One of my favorite LDS artists. But, we can’t always make it to TOFW can we? Well, I … Continue reading

Does Elizabeth Warren Really Have Cherokee Ancestry?

The ancestry of Democrat Elizabeth Warren is still a topic that is raising questions. A few months ago, a genealogist determined that Warren did, really, have Cherokee ancestry. Shortly after that, there were blogs that stated that there wasn’t any credible evidence that this was so. Now, another genealogist says that Elizabeth Warren really doesn’t have Cherokee ancestry. In Massachusetts, the current Senator is Scott Brown, who is a Republican. Elizabeth Warren, who is a Democrat, is running against him for the Senate seat he currently holds. The winner will be decided in the 2012 election. It has become common … Continue reading

Getting Serious About Heat Conservation

We’ve been practicing frugal living in our home actively for about eight years. Most of those years have involved a lot of lifestyle changes, from having three kids to moving to a larger home. While we have kept up with being conservative about our spending, we haven’t been able to make any dramatic changes above and beyond what we do on a daily basis. This fall, we have made it a priority to work on heat and energy conservation even more than we already do. This is an area that we can always improve. We’ve completed most of the necessary … Continue reading

Looking for Embellishments

Most scrapbookers feel that no scrapbooking layout is complete without a few embellishments. Whatever those embellishments happen to be is a personal choice, and one to be made as the page is either coming together or planned for. Sometimes scrapbookers are drawn to certain types of embellishments and they appear over and over again on their layouts. This is actually quite common. We have a style and we stick to it. So where do we find something new or different for our pages? You can browse the many aisles of the scrapbook store and with some exception, there is almost … Continue reading

Carl Weisman’s Book about Single Men

It is a growing trend for more and more people to remain single. However, although there are more of these singles, that does not mean that the criticism they hear is any less. People who remain single are often thought to either be a “player” who cannot make a commitment or a “loser” who cannot find somebody. It was these types of attitudes that lead Carl Weisman to set the record straight. Carl, a 49 year old bachelor, set out to discover exactly why it is that some men do not marry. To begin his work he did a survey … Continue reading

Author Interview – Don Miles

Today we are joined by Don Miles, author of the new book “Cinco de Mayo.” Don, thank you for joining us today. I understand you wrote this book to clarify the historical events leading up to Cinco de Mayo and to educate readers on the actual importance of the day. Mexico had just finished its own civil war between liberals and conservatives, 1858-60. b. Conservatives lost, but emptied the national treasury before their leaders … Continue reading

Using Scrapbook Supplies for Other Uses

Call me frugal, but I have a tenacious appetite for finding new uses for items I already have, so that I do not have to spend the money to purchase something new.
