Fresh Air and Sunshine

I can’t seem to shake this cold. All the cleaning and disinfecting does not seem to be helping. Today I decided to let Mother Nature help get rid of the germs. It was sunny but still cold so I turned off the furnace, put on a coat and opened all the doors and windows.

I left the house open for about ten minutes. Long enough to be able to feel the outside air moving around in the house and then I shut everything up.

Already the house seems cleaner, fresher, like all the negative energy and germs have been blown away and replaced by fresh air and sunshine.

I always feel that the house is cleaner when fresh air has blown threw it. I guess it stems from my childhood when my grandmother thought that fresh air was good for anything that ails you. As children we were always told to go outside and let the fresh air blow the stink off us.

Now I do it with my house. If my house feels just not right, I open the windows and let some of the outside in.

Cleaning even seems more pleasant with fresh air swirling around you. I think maybe I’m just hopeful the groundhog is wrong and we are headed for an early spring.

I’m slowing going room by room and doing an early spring cleaning, I’ve got to get rid of whatever it is that keeps making me sick.

My bedroom was first on the list today and I attacked it with gusto. After dusting, vacuuming and putting clean sheets on the bed, I opened the window. My room felt energized, I can’t wait to sleep in there tonight. That may be just because all I want to do right now is sleep but whatever.

What are you cleaning rituals when you really feel that your home is full of harmful stuff? How do you improve the air quality while getting everything nice and clean?
