Great A Skin Graft

I am still having problems with my reconstruction one side won’t close all the way and I was going back into surgery for another attempt at closing it. This is beginning to be ridiculous a surgery a month is crazy. I am ready to get this part behind me.

Unfortunately this closer did not work either so our last option is a skin graft to close it. Great more scars. The surgeon decided that he needs to remove a section of skin of about 7 inches on the inside of the right arm. I really don’t understand needing such a big piece of skin it was only a quarter size opening but I guess he is the doctor not me.

Luckily this last attempt worked but now I look like a patchwork quilt and I have a giant scar on my arm. I was finally done with surgeries. Now if you read the blog about the surgery you know that they removed the nipples so now I have what I like to refer to as Barbie Boobs. If you have ever seen a Barbie you know what I am talking about.

I was starting to feel back to normal and it was time for my three month oncology checkup. I am really getting tired of coming to these appointments only because all he does is a basic blood work up and then he checks the girls and says see you in three months. He still does not want to do any of the tests that I want. I still don’t know why he won’t it is not like they come out of his pocket.

I did make it a point to tell him that I was sleeping better and that my stress had decreased with the surgery. I was not doing the daily “girl check” that I had been doing before the surgery because of what he said during our first meeting. I told him again how much what he said that first day bothered me and made me feel hopeless.

About Tammy Woolard

My name is Tammy and I am 40 year old mother of 3 wonderful children who came to us through domestic adoption. Although we did not have any fertility issues we chose adoption because there are so many kids that did not ask to be born but truly want a family to love. We did research on adoption choices and decided on domestic adoption through CPS. You would be surprised the differences between each agency. The adoption process is nothing like you see in the movies. I am also a 5 year breast cancer survivor. When I was diagnosed my kids were 3, 5 and 7 I did so much research I may have driven my Dr. a little crazy but that is ok it is my body not his.
