Income for Single Moms

For many women going through a divorce or death of a spouse, starting over as a single mom is tough. Although challenges include running the household and supporting the children emotionally, there is always the financial aspect. Considering that some single moms have not been in the workforce for years, this challenge becomes even greater.

If you are now a single mom but you have no idea what type of job to look for, I recommend you first consider your skills. Even though you may have been a stay-at-home mom without any skills to offer, the truth is that you have a number of credible options. For instance, if you play the piano or another instrument, then you might think about giving lessons, which could be done in your own home, meaning you have more at-home time with smaller children, or in the student’s home.

Now, if you love working with children but want a job that will offer income and time at home, then perhaps you could start a daycare service. The most important aspect of this is to secure the proper licensing, which will ultimately protect you and the children for whom you care. You will also discover that many government programs are available to help with this type of job to include food, diapers, etc.

Then, transcription at home is yet another way to earn income while spending time at home. For this, you could offer standard type transcription services but for excellent money, medical transcription would be the way to go. Typically, this type of job takes a little time to become established but if you have the opportunity, you can make a lucrative income. Another option is called scoping, which is a job service associated with court reporters. The information they key in using code must be decoded, which is what a scoper does. You will find a number of excellent schools to become certified.

Remember, earning income as a single mom wanting to stay at home is possible. Today, you can work as a freelance worker, doing research, writing, publishing recipes, creating websites, scheduling appointments, and the list goes on. Again, go back to look at your skills, determining what you can offer that would boost your home business to success. Chances are you will be surprised at how many opportunities really exist.
