Moms Across America – Get Stroller Fit for Your Kids

Remember when I asked if you were a stroller mom a few months ago? Well, attention all stroller moms, tomorrow, moms across America will be strolling a few million miles to illustrate the importance of fitness and exercise to their kids.

The Strollometer is one of the first speedometer/odometers of its kind for strollers and StrollerFit is a nationwide fitness group that is joining Strollometer for the 2007 Million Mile Moms Challenge.

What is the Challenge?

The challenge begins tomorrow (June 15th) and continues through July 15th. Moms are encouraged to collect logs of their millions of miles spent walking or jogging with their stroller. If you are interested in participating in this fitness challenge, you can download a mileage log from the StrollerFit and the Strollometer websites.

Strolling with your baby is a great way to get fit and to spend time with your little one. We’ve talked about jogging strollers and how to buy one and now there’s this great new device to help you with your stroller mom program. (This challenge might be a great excuse to invest in one).

A Strollometer gives stroller moms a lot of information – a lot more than most pedometers – and is designed to work with a number of different strollers from the standard to the jogging stroller. What does the Strollometer record?

  • Current Speed
  • Average speed
  • Maximum speed
  • Trip distance
  • Daily distance
  • Trip Time
  • Real Clock Time
  • Ambient Temperature

For stroller moms who like to journal and track their progress, this is a great tool. So as you consider getting yourself stroller fit for your kids, check out the fitness challenge and the Strollometer, they seem to go hand in hand.

Will you be checking out the stroller fitness challenge? I don’t have a stroller to get in on the action, but I’ll be doing my best to track it over the next month because the best example your kids can have for fitness is you.
