Mouth-to-Mouth Feeding

left

By now most of you have seen celebrity mama Alicia Silverstone puking her lunch into her 10-month-old son’s mouth.

If you’ve been spared from the trauma thus far, but want to join the masses, you can watch the video here.

Apparently, this revolting practice has an actual name: premastication or pre-chewing.

According to CBS News via Wikipedia, “Pre-chewing food lubricates it for better infant digestion, and also passes on disease-fighting immunities in the mother’s saliva. However, pre-chewing food also puts baby at risk for any diseases the mother might have, as well.”

Upon viewing the actress’ feeding technique many mommy bloggers took to the Internet blasting the blonde “Clueless” beauty for channeling her inner blender just so she can avoid having to wash a few extra utensils.

Silverstone shared the video clip along with this message detailing exactly what she’s spitting into her son, Bear Blu’s mouth:

“I just had a delicious breakfast of miso soup, collards and radish steamed and drizzled with flax oil, cast iron mochi with nori wrapped outside, and some grated daikon. Yum! I fed Bear the mochi and a tiny bit of veggies from the soup … from my mouth to his.”

She adds: “It’s his favorite … and mine. He literally crawls across the room to attack my mouth if I’m eating.”

Silverstone, who has long been an animal rights activist and die hard vegan, proudly stands behind the mouth-to-mouth feeding method.

Hey, to each her own, right?

I mean, c’mon people, the lady named her kid after a wild animal. Why would you expect that she’d feed him like a human?

Clearly, she doesn’t need that Baby Bullet she got as a shower gift, and now you don’t either, provided your kid doesn’t mind you regurgitating into his mouth.

Personally, I could care less if Silverstone upchucks chunks of food into her toddler’s mouth. Of course, if she’s still doing it when he enters high school, that might be a problem… or fodder for a new reality TV show.
