Neighbors Want Supermodel’s Dogs Muzzled

She may be tall, have porcelain skin, and own a mane of blonde locks that others would kill for, but right now, I don’t think many people would want to be in Claudia Schiffer’s shoes. According to news reports, the supermodel is being blasted for letting her dogs “run wild.”

Apparently, the situation has gotten so bad that police have been called to handle the situation. London newspapers report that officers plan to meet with Schiffer to discuss numerous complaints that her dogs are attacking walkers near her country mansion. Though, another report I read used the word “intimidated” rather than “attacking,” but nonetheless police agree there is a problem and hope that the talks with Schiffer will solve the problem.

From what I understand the complaints stem from locals who walk on a footpath that runs alongside Schiffer’s estate near Bury St. Edmunds, a rural town northeast of London. Joggers tell the local newspaper that Schiffer’s dogs are allowed to “run wild” along the path, which is often frequented by residents walking their pets. Police report that they first received a complaint several months ago from a resident who told them that one of Schiffer’s dogs had bitten his dog. More recently, a local parish council said they received a number of complaints that dogs were “barking and lunging” at walkers. That of course pales in comparison to the incident reported by Britain’s Daily Mail, which claims that one of Schiffer’s dogs “nipped a postman in the arm, which led to a threat of no more mail delivery service.” And, another report that said that on yet another occasion Schiffer’s other dog mauled a neighbor’s Jack Russell terrier. The newspaper went on to say that in that incident Schiffer paid the Jack Russell owner’s veterinary bills after the dog needed surgery.

The 36-year-old supermodel, who at one time was engaged to magician David Copperfield, currently lives in the 16th-century mansion, with her husband, film producer Matthew Vaughn. Police say she is believed to own an Irish wolfhound named Roxy and a German shepherd named Oscar.

“The dogs are still getting out on their own and can be quite aggressive and intimidating when they run up and bark,” a villager who wished to remain anonymous told the Mail. “The wolfhound is worse because it is the size of a small pony and she has got far more frightening as she has grown up.”

I guess this proves that even when you’re drop-dead gorgeous life isn’t problem-free.
