Permanent Make-up

Micropigmentation is an ancient practice of enhancing facial features that has become popular around the world! Using needles, granules of pigment are implanted below the surface of the skin for cosmetic or corrective enhancement.

Permanent make-up is only one use for micropigmentation. Scarring can be improved through micropigmentation, as can uneven skin pigmentation. For women who undergo breast surgery, micropigmentation can be used to reconstruct the nipple area.

Micropigmentation is more or less a tattooing process. The needles penetrate the skin just a few millimeters, depositing fine granules of pigment under the surface. The pigments used are made from safe and non-reactive compounds approved by the FDA. The process is relatively quick — an upper and lower lash line procedure will usually take less than forty-five minutes. A local or topical anesthesia will help avoid any discomfort during the micropigmentation procedure.

Permanent make-up is a great alternative for women with make-up allergies. The pigments used are individually mixed for customized results and a natural look. You will notice the difference immediately following surgery, though it may take a day or so for swelling and/or redness to go away.

Following micropigmentation, most patients can resume normal activities within twenty-four hours. For the next few days, you should not apply make-up, wear contact lenses, or spend time in direct sunlight. You should not swim for several weeks.

Some tattoo artists have expressed concerns that the estheticians performing micropigmentation are not properly trained in tattooing techniques. If the needles are inserted too deeply, you may experience bleeding, pigment spread, damage to hair follicles, and even permanent scarring. If you are considering micropigmentation, make sure you know all the facts about the salon or medical spa where the procedure will be done and the person who will be performing it. You may want to have the procedure performed under the supervision of a medical professional.

This is a permanent procedure. Laser surgery is required to remove the lines.
