Unique and Romantic Valentine’s Day Ideas

Are you looking for some romantic ideas for Valentine’s Day? Maybe you’d like to do something a little different this year.

Spontaneous Dinner Date

We talked about planning for Valentine’s Day if you’re going to go all out, but what if you just want to do something casual and spontaneous? This is a fun way to choose where you will have dinner. Start out with no destination in mind, and as you’re cruising along, count the restaurants. However many Valentine’s Days you have spent together is the number that will decide the restaurant. If you’ve been together ten years, the tenth restaurant you see will become your destination. Let’s hope it’s not a hot dog stand, although that might be fun too. You can always share a milkshake.

*It’s a good idea to go out early (or late) if you plan to do this, since many restaurants will be booked on Valentine’s Day near dinnertime.

Valentine's Day Wine TastingWine Tasting

The idea is not to drink, but to simply enjoy the sensuous taste of different types of wines. You only take a sip of each one, with a taste of a particular type of food that each one complements. Look for “splits” or miniature bottles to avoid waste or use the rest of the wine for cooking. You can also use sparkling fruit juices and feed each treats like chocolate dipped strawberries, tropical fruit, seafood, or specialty cheeses and breads.

Special Indoor Picnic

Pack the picnic basket with his or her favorite tasty treats. Don’t settle for sandwiches, go all out and surprise your Valentine with wonderful delicacies and gourmet foods. Try things neither of you have ever tasted before, but also include a couple of his or her favorites. Spread out a blanket on the floor and enjoy your romantic picnic dinner without worrying about the weather.

Mail a Valentine from Loveland

Mailing a romantic card instead of just handing it to your mate makes it more special. Ask for specialty stamps as well. You can also mail a Valentine’s Day card in a self-addressed stamped envelope (inside a larger envelope) to Loveland or other romantically named locations. There, it will be postmarked with name of that romantic sounding location and will have a poem stamped on the envelope before it is sent to your home or your mate’s place of business.
