Tagging: What are tags?

Have you heard of tagging? Not the type of tagging where cans of spray paint are used to create letters, symbols, and pictures on public walls and fences. I am talking about tagging on the Internet using Web sites that have tagging features included. You may have noticed on the Families.com homepage one of the four tabs at the top of page is entitled, “Tags.” It looks something like this: Have you ever clicked on the “Tags” tab? If so, you may have discovered the Families.com tag page, but been at a loss as to what this page is about … Continue reading

The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World

Can you see the hidden Mickey in the ceiling of this Epcot store? The last of my books about Disney World, “The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World,” is for the park’s devotees. Its subtitle is, “Over 600 secrets of the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom,” and author Susan Veness makes good on that promise. If you’re a fan of Disney World, not just of its rides but of its whole experience, this is the book for you. If you’ve been to the park so many times that now you’re starting to notice all of its … Continue reading

House Of Representatives Passes Bill Repealing Health Care Laws

After much debate, the House of Representatives has voted to repeal the health care law. The next step will be for the Senate to have a vote about whether or not to repeal the health care law. If it passes in the Senate, the next step is for the President of the United States to sign it. In other words, today’s vote might be considered a first step by some, but is not a final decision. The Affordable Care Act, which has also been called “Obamacare” has been considered controversial since it was first signed into law. There have been … Continue reading

African American Genealogy

Yesterday a friend who is researching her African American genealogy contacted me, wondering if I have any tips for her, since this type of research is difficult due to the country’s horrible history of slavery. Unfortunately, never having done any African American genealogical research, I wasn’t of much help to her. However, I am inspired to broaden my knowledge and try to help her as best as I can. I am looking forward to her next email, which will provide me with the information I will need to see if I can discover any new information for her. I am … Continue reading

Whether you are brand new to yoga or have been practicing a while, but need advice and guidance on poses to improve technique, a good yoga book can be helpful to advancing your practice. The Curious Case of Sister-Wives

The other night I stayed up late watching TV because I couldn’t sleep. I ended up tuning into a show called “The Secret Lives of Women.” Apparently the show’s a series and features insight into different aspects of women’s lives. The night I watched the topic was polygamy. I have to admit, other than what I’ve seen from the media, I don’t know much about polygamy. I knew the concept of multiple wives sprung from religious beliefs, but I’ve never understood why any woman would sign up for that type of marriage. (Unless if she was forced into it, like … Continue reading

Saving Money With Photographs

Several months ago I taught a basic photography class to a group of nine scrapbookers. We went over both digital photography as well as film photography and we talked about the importance of organizing your photographs for ease of scrapbooking. Surprisingly I learned that of the nine women present that night, only four regularly printed photographs. Two ladies admitted to having several rolls of film at home that have not been developed along with hundreds of digital photographs just sitting on their computer. The other three used digital and one lady admitted to having over a thousand photographs on her … Continue reading
