Luxury Travel Accommodations

My experience with luxury travel has been limited to the gifts (stays at five-star resorts, plane tickets, etc.) from generous family members, and the occasional “tag along” with friends who frequent spas and luxury hotels.

If you are able to afford pricey accommodations on your own (I’m jealous) here are a few new additions in the world of luxury travel you may consider taking advantage of:

The Keating

The Keating is a luxury boutique hotel located in San Diego, California. It is currently offering guests use of luxury vehicles. The hotel made an agreement with Ferrari to offer packages that can have you cruising around town in one of the Italian status symbols as a part of your stay.

The Peninsula Hong Kong

Not to be out done by The Keating, The Peninsula Hong Kong recently rolled out a fleet of 14 custom-made Rolls Royce Phantoms (estimated at $395,000 each) to ferry guests around town. The cars are equipped with cooling boxes for chilled hand towels, 12-inch TVs and collapsible picnic tables. Cost to ride: about $140 an hour.

Regent South Beach

If you are a car lover then the brand-new Regent South Beach hotel in Miami Beach may be your ultimate destination (or at least your vehicle’s). Visitors to the hotel can sign up for a “turndown service” for their cars. Attendants lovingly wash, dry, wax and put the cars to “bed.” Rates start at $200. But, for $500 more you can get a “dedicated and doting” valet to watch over it all night to make sure no one dares to scratch, ding or breathe on your “baby.”

Caesars Palace, Las Vegas

Vegas is hot… in more ways than one. When the desert’s intense heat has you limping like a soggy noodle consider heading to the new Caesars Palace Qua Baths & Spa. It boasts the first “ice room” in Sin City. The spa’s Artic Ice Room is kept at 55 degrees. Spa managers say the concept is based on the “Frigidarium” pool where ancient Romans cooled down after a dip in steamy water and the Scandinavian practice of rolling in snow after a sauna. Admission to the Arctic Ice Room is free for those who book a treatment at the spa; it’s also included in the “Roman Rituals” package, which admits you to the gym, sauna, Roman baths and steam room.
