If they hear it used, regardless of if it's a term of endearment, and they repeat it, not meaning it in a mean way, they'll get slapped down for it, not understanding the differences. We've got fetal alcohol babies being adopted all the time, babies with AIDS, babies who might not even live a few years, and there are families who will take them in. Why would an agency refuse one because of no prenatal care? That sounds like a story to me. And they seem to get so much -- by the time all the grandparents and aunts and uncles give them gifts for holidays, they've really got so much stuff! One thing I've done is to rotate toys. I'll leave out some, pack the rest away, and then switch them out from time to time. It's a great way to keep the clutter down.
