May I just say -- and feel free to think I'm insane, if you like -- back to school sales absolutely rock and I'm addicted to them. Whenever I think about spiral notebooks for a dime, my little heart starts to go pitty pat.

I just finished watching this movie, and I loved it. I laughed my head off -- the acting is great, the special effects were wonderful, and it was just plain funny. You'll enjoy it with your whole family.

Hey there,

We keep the Sabbath too, however, we do count the Sabbath as a school day and I'll explain why. In our homeschool, we consider religious instruction to be part of the curriculum, and so when we attend church and do other religious activities to commemorate the day, our children are learning about our beliefs. I think that's one of the most awesome things about homeschool -- we can each modify it to our own needs and intuitions.

This is going to seem like a quirky correlation, but when I blogged "Hooray for Diffendoofer Day" yesterday, what immediately came to my mind was unschooling. The teacher in this book spent her time teaching the children strange things like how to tell the difference between a miniature poodle and a marigold, but when time came for testing, it turns out that what she had really taught the children was to think for themselves, and they were able to sail through the test because even on the answers they didn't know, they were able to reason them out. I'd take a child who knows how to think any day over a child who has all the answers memorized.

This is very true, Miriam -- it's possible to overprepare. I know that when I spend hours on a cute handout, it can cut down on the time I spent really preparing, in reading and studying and following the Spirit on what I need to bring to the class. The most important handouts are the ones you take away in your hearts, not in your hands.

My main problem with this season was that I never felt like the girls really had a chance to talk to Andy and get to know him. They were all, like, yeah, that's so cool, and hey, that was fun, you know, and that sunset is so pretty, wow, isn't that amazing. The times I watched, I didn't understand this "connection" they all said they were feeling. I know I couldn't fall in love with a guy if he talked like a surfer all the time. :)

I am glad he chose Tessa, though. I never liked Bevin at all.
