It really helps us stay united when we know what needs to be done and what the others' needs are. Great blog! Alec Baldwin's Apology Falls Short And Sparks A Gender War - Blog Entry21 Apr 2007 10:05 AM I am just shaking my head that there are those who thought that message was "no big deal" and that "kids are tough." I especially don't understand the statement that men saw the situation differently -- hello -- it was a man speaking to a girl in the phone call. He may have seen it one way but she certainly saw it another. I really, really don't get his statement that he has a normal relationship with his daughter. That phone message was definitely not a normal relationship. Great blog -- terrible situation. I hope he gets creamed in court. Never Underestimate the Healing Power of Ice Cream - Blog Entry19 Apr 2007 10:20 AM We rarely had treats in my house growing up. I'm currently 100 pounds overweight. I wish my parents did have more unhealthy food around the house and had taught me a respectful relationship with it instead of keeping me from it altogether, because I never learned how to deal with it. Consequently, when I got out on my own, I ate it like crazy. Forbidden fruit, you know. Simon Cowell: He's Really Not That Nasty - Blog Entry19 Apr 2007 10:14 AM Ya know, I didn't even notice the eye-rolling, but I think it's great that they took the time to clear the air so those who were offended could have an explanation. Letting Go of the Need to Always Be Right - Blog Entry16 Apr 2007 10:21 AM Thanks for this blog -- I've found that when I'm willing to listen to my child's opinions and when I admit I was wrong about something, our relationship improves dramatically. I think that too often, as parents, we are a little power-hungry and want to be in control all the time, and feel that if we admit we're wrong about something, we lose some of our authority. Well, it's more important to have your child's love and trust than to maintain a dictatorship any day. Rigoletto (1993) - Blog Entry14 Apr 2007 10:57 AM If you click on the link in the blog, it will take you to Amazon where you can get a copy. I believe it's somewhat based on the opera of the same name, but not having seen the opera, I don't know! But I think he was a fairy prince who came to the town to teach them the things they needed to know, having been put under a spell of ugliness until he accomplished his task. The Dangers of Complacency - Blog Entry13 Apr 2007 06:21 PM Thanks for this reminder -- I tend to be too complacent when it comes to scripture reading. I know I should be doing it, but when it comes right down to it, there are so many things I let distract me. Great blog! The Last Unicorn (1982) - Blog Entry12 Apr 2007 09:09 PM Yeah, the animation style is weird, too. Sort of anime but sort of not, ya know? My kids are too young to read Brokeback Mountain - but they are! - Blog Entry11 Apr 2007 09:02 PM You were sorta scaring me there with that blog title, working dad! :) The Friend Magazine - Blog Entry11 Apr 2007 10:35 AM It truly is a great resource for families, Primary teachers, and children. In fact, our home teacher will often include something from the Friend in his regular monthly message just for the kids.
