Finances are definitely a consideration in having a family. However, we take a great many things into account when we choose our family size, finances being only a part of it. I'm not sure how helpful this is, but I've often found that when my husband doesn't meet my expectations, it's because he didn't fully understand why it was important to me. I don't know if you've had a talk with Wayne about his absense, but perhaps a really direct heart to heart would help. Sometimes I think I've explained myself to my husband, only to learn later that I wasn't direct enough. Men need things spelled out. They don't pick up on nuances like women do.
