Do You have Issues with Holiday Greetings? - Blog Entry

14 Dec 2006 09:27 PM

Actually I did some research on this topic for a blog and found that 90% of people in the US celebrate Christmas even though only 75% claim to be Christian. So that only leaves 10% of the public that might be offended by the use of Merry Christmas. So the majority should have their holiday greeting taken away because 10% of the population might not like the words "Merry Christmas"?

Ear Infections- Many Parents Are Taking A Wait and See Approach - Blog Entry

14 Dec 2006 12:05 PM

You do run the risk of having the ear infection get worse. My son had an eardrum burst in just a matter of hours after complaining that his ear hurt. Another time when I was away and my mother-in-law was watching them he suffered for three days before she took him in and the ear infection was still there. I think it is a matter of gauging how bad the pain is. In my son's case he couldn't sleep because it hurt so bad.

I like to give something that my kids have played a part in making. This year they are using fabric paints to paint a potholder and then giving it to their teachers.

When you peel an onion, do you cry? - Blog Entry

07 Dec 2006 12:09 PM

I read somewhere that it is when you cut near the root that the onion will make you cry. The part near the root is what contains the strong onion scent. Since that time I cut my onion starting at the stem. Then when I get close to the root I just throw the last slice away. Now cutting onions never makes me cry. This is easier than holding a metal spoon in your mouth.

Marriage Choking Points: Compulsive Spending - Blog Entry

My husband is given cash. If he spends money on himself personally he has to use the cash. When the cash is gone then he can't spend anything else. Usually this system works well.

Marriage Choking Points: Dollar Signs - Blog Entry

My husband and I agreed on a personal limit of $50 without prior consultation. Of course whenever I go to the grocery store I exceed this limit but I'm not buying personal items. My husband too has a monthly budget because he's the spender in the family. Disagreements do happen when he goes over his budget.

Yes. We eat dinner together every night and breakfast either Saturday or Sunday morning. I did the same thing with my family growing up too. I think it is so important.

Sickness & Health: Where do I start .... - Blog Entry

07 Dec 2006 08:15 AM

My mother experienced something similar my dad felt pain in his arm and then acute pain in his chest. Then he fell to the ground. She had to call an ambulance to come and get him. She was sure he had suffered a heart attack. It turned out the pain was caused by stress and it was a kind of anxiety attack. So now he's supposed to try and reduce the stress in his life. Difficult since he owns his own business.

Holiday Date Night - Celebrate with Christmas Movies - Blog Entry

I love Miracle on 34th street , both the new and old versions. I also love It's a Wonderful Life. But asking my husband to watch either of them is like asking him to put his finger in a light-socket. So needless to say that is one tradition we probably won't enjoy together.

Can My Child Really Be a Bully? - Blog Entry

07 Dec 2006 08:10 AM

The boy next door has a habit of bullying my son. We tell my son it's because he doesn't like himself. The child is overweight and does poorly in school. My son is just the opposite. But it still doesn't change the fact that the kid has a lot of issues. Luckily his parents are trying to deal with the issue albeit unsuccesfully as times. My question is if a child is a bully and that insecure about himself in first and second grade, what will he be like in highschool?
