Teaching Teenagers About The Danger Of Internet Predators24 Jul 2006 06:18 AM I'm glad I could help. I havent' really had to address this issue with my kids yet, but they do love to spend time on-line playing games so it is just a matter of time before they start wanting to chat with friends. A Day At Adventure Land07 Jul 2006 01:09 PM The last time we went miniature golfing I spent more time keeping my two-year-old out of the water hazards then golfing. I think we'll wait a few years before trying it again. Activity a Day File07 Jul 2006 01:08 PM This is a great idea. Now if I just had the time to put it together. Choosing Child Care06 Jun 2006 02:52 PM I did daycare for a while in my home and know how important good daycare is. Give your child no more than two weeks to adjust. If they still hate it try something new. I had a child, age three, who had been in a daycare previously and when his dad would pick him up he was always sitting in the corner by himself. After he came to my daycare it was a different story. He was always playing and having fun. He didn't like the large facility with a lot of kids. Your Child's Been Invited To A Pox Party!12 May 2006 09:41 AM Birthtenders I would love to know where you got your statistics. Because when I went to the Center for Disease website it states "Control Pre-licensure studies of varicella vaccine showed the vaccine to be 70-90% effective in preventing disease and more than 95% effective in protecting against severe disease." It also says"The length of protection/immunity from any new vaccine is never known when it is first introduced. Available data from following up children vaccinated in prelicensure clinical trials indicate that protection from varicella vaccine lasts for at least 25 years (Japanese data) and 14 years (U.S. data). Experience with other live viral vaccines (e.g. measles, rubella) has shown that post vaccination, immunity remains high throughout life. As far as shingles go the CDC says, "The rate of shingles after varicella vaccination was 2.6/100,000 vaccine doses distributed. The incidence of shingles after natural varicella infection among healthy children aged less than 20 years is 68/100,000 person years and, for all ages, 215/100,000 person. Additional research is being done to see if the vaccine can reduce the occurance of shingles in those over 55. Anther reason officials support the use of the chicken pox vaccine is because of the economic impact of parents having to stay home with their children for two weeks. Cheap Scrapbooking Tips09 May 2006 09:26 AM Question - what about acid from other paper sources like calendars and mementos - will they hurt my pictures? I've heard you need to laminate them which makes them very expensive. Is this true? Our Kids are So Bright They Glow in the Dark!
