Narcissism-Symptoms and Treatment (1) - Blog Entry

I have lived with my boyfriend for 6 months. We have been together 4 years. I did not understand the nature of his "problem" until just a few days ago when my daughter said "wow mom he is such a narcissist". I have always called it a God Complex. We laughed and joked about it, but it is no longer funny. I looked up as much information online as I could absorb in the last few days and took several quizzes - on his behalf - and I believe he would be diagnosed with NPD. The selfishness, self absorbed, only he is right, and my thoughts and feelings don't count, behavior has become unbearable. Money issues....oh ya, I gave himn $31,000 cash to remodel HIS second home in another state with the understanding that my name would go on the house. Damn, shoulda done that BEFORE I gave him the money. My name hasnt gone on the house and when I ask I get guilted into quiet submission about it. I am at the point that I want out, but the self-esteem issues and fear of being alone, and all the other typical issues that arise with living with someone like this are very present...not to mention 31,000 other reasons.
