What do you say to someone suffering from depression? - Blog Entry

12 Aug 2006 08:50 PM

Me personally, I live by my theory that EVERYONE has mental issues....the only difference between those who have issues and those who have PROBLEMS is simply their body's ability to deal with it. Just like we ALL have blood pressure....but some of us have problems w/ high blood pressure because our bodies can't deal with it and regulate it. I have huge problems with the level of social stigma regarding mental illness and emotional problems. I KNOW that some days it's all I can do to DRAG myself out of bed...and I mean LITERALLY drag. It's practically debilitating....it is TOTALLY debilitating some days. I was recently diagnosed with "agitated depression." I am getting another opinion later this month...I just don't think that's the issue. I really think it's something else.

So, what do you recommend for people who can't sleep....despite trying these things? On a side note, these things DO work for many MANY people....they work for my husband, and my best friend.

Hmm...perhaps the ridiculous amount of garlic I eat is what's keeping my cholesterol low despite my genetics! Thanks for the info.

One more thing...clinically, I have no experience of course, but as someone suffering from depression, I know what makes me feel better. I really appreciate it, when I am having a bad day, and my best friend asks me "what can I do to help you out today?"

I totally agree with you about the meds, Jaime. It's horrible....the media has had a hand in this, giving people unrealistic expectations about what the meds should do, about what "happy" is, and about what depression really is.

If you haven't played with it, PSP (paint shop pro) is quickly becoming my BEST scrapping friend! I use tutorials and ideas from digital scrapping sites, and incorporate them. GREAT job on this blog....bad job on making me want to go spend more money on scrapping!!! LOL

I made a whopper of a mistake once. I was hand lettering a title for a page, called "Shamu Rocks America" (the name of the night time Shamu show at Sea World). Well I was SO focused on my lettering, I ACTUALLY wrote "Shamu Rocks Amererica" It was either re-do it, and this lettering took me quite some time, or have fun with it. I stuck a note on the page, over the title mistake, that looks like a "memo". All official looking, it says "we interrupt this page to inform you that, yes, Tracy really CAN spell 'America' so don't ask, just chalk it up to intense creative distraction, laugh about it, and move along!"

The Effect of Pregnancy on Your Bladder - Blog Entry

One of the things "they" don't tell pregnant women about! I found that the newer product, StayFree Advanced Protection is PERFECT for this. They're great for really light periods, and would have been GREAT to have around, instead of wearing a pad, for bladder leakage while I was pregnant and after!

I'm so happy someone FINALLY put shed some light on USING the computer for titles and whatnot! I'm learning my way around PSP and I am able to create BEAUTIFUL titles, that at first glance, LOOK dimensional, but without adding weight to my album, I LOVE it, even moreso since I am DEFINATELY a scrapper on a budget!
