Are We Nearing the End? - Blog Entry

Well generally superdelegates don't play such a huge role in who gets elected. This is a rather unprecedented race on several fronts--it's usually not quite this close. (Ahem. . .or at least not since I can remember.)

Father's Day, 2008 - Blog Entry

I'm doing a photo montage out of several framed black and white photos that he took of our kids and then setting aside two of the picture frames to include the verse from our wedding and another one of his favorites. ;-) It will be the centerpiece of our living room when we move in a few months.

Oh Heather I totally agree. And like I said, I think it's a brilliant move on the part of her (or her campaign strategist). I'm actually going to talk about superdelegates next. ;-)

Girls Benefit Most from Breastfeeding - Blog Entry

Interesting, because health wise. . .research indicates that boys, particularly white males have the most health gains to make. (At least preemies.) I am kind of wondering if this is the difference they're seeing as opposed to actual benefits. I think if the study were replicated on a wider scale. . .with equivalent gestational ages in each category. . .(in other words 100 boy 24 weekers. . .with 100 girl 24 weekers) that the results might well be different. (It's also interesting to note that it seems like Americans and Western Europeans are the only ones interested in debunking bm as THE best food. ;-) LOL That was probably more than you wanted for your first baby article huh?

Stop Overreacting to the NEA Resolution - Blog Entry

31 May 2008 01:39 AM

It shouldn't be minimized. . .but they don't have any real power. What they have is money to fund campaigns. Generally though, compared to the to 2 million plus homeschoolers whose parents vote--they are small. If you really want to make a difference, instead of signing an online petition that frankly, makes homeschoolers look dumb, write senators and legislators to keep your freedoms. But a petition reacting to the NEA's homeschooling stance--the one they've had for the last however many years--is not effective. An online petition is even less effective.

10 Things to Know When You Find Out There's More than One! - Blog Entry

Well often what happens is that the two placentas fuse together and get "deemed" as one placenta. There are also other types of twinning besides identical and fraternal and that's a possibility--although EXTREMELY rare. Chances are that the girls had two placentas that fused together becoming one. ;-) But it's not like you'd ever know that now. Some hospitals have pathologists who specialize in determining identical vs fraternal. Hospitals do not routinely offer zygosity testing that I'm aware of. BTW, identical twins DO NOT have to look identical at all. ;-) Kind of interesting. . .I'll have to see if I can find the link on that one. Congratulations on your girls!

Marriage Types: Covenant - Blog Entry

21 May 2008 03:21 AM

I didn't even know this was a "legal option". . .probably becuase it's not in my state. But whether or not you have the legal paper, I think if you're a Christian, you have to look at is as Dale has said...marriage is a covenant. ;-)

When Your Boss Says 'No' to the Raise - Blog Entry

17 May 2008 11:13 AM

Yes Samual. It really depends on your job. Teachers, for example, would negotiate a raise as a union and receive it through their contracts. My dh doesn't ask for rasises but rather gets performance bonuses on top of his salary as well as a yearly raise. But my bil is a businessman and he has negotiated several raises.

One in Four Toddlers Improperly Vaccinated - Blog Entry

15 May 2008 09:00 AM

There are laws here like that but there are ways around them as well. You can claim a religious exemption and you're not required to vaccinate your children if you homeschool. I don't think that parents should be forced to vaccinate, however, neither do I think that they have the right to expect schools to accept them if their kids are not vaccinated.
