Rosie O'Donnell Under Fire for Grabbing Son - Blog Entry

Okay but you all are talking about toddlers and preschoolers running away and this kid is 12. I doubt that he's running into the street and she's saving him from personal bodily injury. With that said though, I think that the media is happy to perpetuate a particular image when it sells magazines--and let's face it--this sells. I neither defend her or exhonerate her. But grabbing a 12 yo, while I wouldn't call it abusive, isn't the same as grabbing a two or three year old.

I agree. It irks me to no end when parents knowingly send their children to school when they're ill and I tend to agree that vaccination is rather necessary. There are some vaccines here which I deem unnecessary--like the flu vaccine for example. (Rotavirus). Before you can register for school you have to provide proof of vaccination--but some states allow for religious exemption and of course homeschooled kids don't have to be vaccinated. This is how I've been able to delay vaccinations.

Just to be clear. . .I have never said that vaccines cause autism. It's very interesting that you have laws to protect pregnant women. Here, to enter school, people must show proof of vaccinations but there are ways around it.

Absolutely! It's all good--and in fact playing like that is really good for her. Personally, I really think that it inspires creativity. While all the other kids play with toys, ours create toys out of what they already have. ;-)

Benefits of Breastfeeding Are Over Stated - Blog Entry

12 Apr 2008 06:21 PM

I would hope it wouldn't change anyone's mind about breastfeeding. What I was responding to was the "buzz" that was created upon the study's publication. The buzz is that the benefits of breastfeeding are over stated. If there really isn't a difference in boding when you look at 6yos and there isn't a difference in health. . .that implies that bfing is overstated to these doctors. Thanks for your take.

I would be very interested in hearing your take on it. LOL it might even be more blog fodder! I didn't read the study (like I said) and I'm not sure which claims are being "over stated" in their opinion. I am more responding to some of the doctor's comments who wrote on the study. But are they saying, "we can't tell moms they're horrible people bc they formula feed?" Well--I can agree with that. Can we say that bm doesn't really have immunological properties? I'm sorry but that just doesn't make sense from any way you look at it. Thanks for your comment.
