Thanks darling! Well, it's funny though. . .did you see what dd#1 was wearing yesterday in church? A shirt that says "soccer girls" that's navy blue and black sweats. Whatever she says, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. ;-) You're great! Thanks so much!

The thing is. . .there are numerous types of outfits that offer this type of stuff and then gear it specifically to hs'ers. I find that things that are geared towards ps tend to be geared towards helping them pass tests. . .which IMO is next to useless learning. There are tons of decent online tutoring programs out there. . .like what about k12.com where you can take one course. . .or time4learning. . .clever island etc. Furthermore, I just think there are too many resources of this nature for free. Why pay? ;-)

No frankly, I don't think that this is worth the money. First of all, I would never use an online tutoring service. If my child needs tutoring that I can't provide, then I'll hire a real person. Secondly, this aligns to state standards. My children and most children I know who are homeschooled left the state standards in the dust a few grades back. Finally, this is not a website geared towards homeschooling but rather geared towards parents who are in public schools whose children are behind. Sites that aren't geared towards homeschoolers may actually prove harmful to them.

I don't believe that tests are an accurate measurement for how children are doing. . .for kids that are as young as mine. Thank you for your comment.

"Why Do They Think We Still Want to Match?" - Blog Entry

I have to agree. All of my girls especially have very different likes in clothing. One twin is very particular. . .and the other allows her twin to pick out her clothing as well. LOL The poor boy. . .well of course he doesn't want to look like any of his siblings! ;-) I have never figured out why people think it is cute to dress them exactly alike though. ;-)

Gasp! My Older Children Help Their Little Siblings - Blog Entry

Wow. . .that's really young! But I agree. . .it's great to have older siblings help younger ones. It's also nice to see a dad so involved in the homeschooling instruction.

Is My Baby Gifted? How to Tell - Blog Entry

28 Dec 2007 02:10 PM

Thanks for your comment. What I am referring to in my blog is "giftedness" as defined by a test or measurement of some sort. I certainly understand that children have different strengths and that every child has something that they are strong in. In my mind that's not he same as being gifted.

Parents of children who are actually gifted. . .extradinarily so. . .often find great difficulty in finding resources bc "everyone" thinks their child is gifted. Not every child is, at least not in this manner.

Celebrating the Twelve Days of Christmas - Blog Entry

I had never heard of doing this. Although in the last few years we've gotten into sending New Year's letters rather than Christmas letters to have just one less thing to do before Dec. 25. What a great idea!
