Black Friday or Buy Nothing Day? - Blog Entry

Great blog Mary Ann. We make a list of what we might like to get our kids. Then we compare them to door busters. Last year and this year we decided not to go to Black Friday stuff although we will do some shopping tomorrow. But frankly, the door busters were not worth getting up for. It was the same last year. It all depends on what's on sale. And I think people forget that generally, there are really good sales throughout the month of December leading up to Christmas. ;-) Point is. . .LOL. . .that I find making a list is a pretty good way to stick to a budget and not spend more money on good bargains than you intend.

In fairness. . .the letter was well written and wasn't accusatory at all. But there was no way to copy it as it was very long, AND edit it in such a way that it didn't sound like that. So I just edited it so I could respond and did the best I could to preserve the tone. It's like when you watch a news segment and they edit something you say to put a spin on it. . .I wasn't trying to spin it. . .there just wasn't any good way to reproduce that particular part. But clearly someone who is ignorant about homeschooling.

Reason #2 Why Tax Credits Are Wrong for Homeschoolers - Blog Entry

$250 is absurd. It's better than nothing though. I don't know if you read my first post on tax credits, but I address your point there. Eventually, I will adress the $250 tax credit for teachers. . .

Homeschooling in Pennsylvania: Operating a Homeschool - Blog Entry

Yep. . .New York tops the list with the most amount of paperwork. Hawaii tops the list as very difficult to get "approved" and people being given a hard time and PA falls somewhere barely beneath New York. . .but just barely. ;-) After having written about almost all of the states, PA seems to have the most convuluted law. It's kind of difficult to tell which is the best option.

Is It Okay To Be Angry With God? - Blog Entry

I think in looking at the Psalms, we see David frequently crying out to God in earnestness and honesty asking 'why'. He always comes back to praising and recognizing that regardless of his own immediate and temporal circumstances. . .God is good. So I would accept that all emotion expressed towards God is appropriate as He is a loving Father. . .but that it eventually brings us back to intimacy with Him.

LOL I always appreciate your comments Janet. I suspect that this person is a teacher and has that, "what will they do without me" complex. I don't know for sure bc they didn't say that. It's just my thought.

Challenging the Status Quo on the Age of Weaning - Blog Entry

Thanks for the comment! I think it's something that has been engrained in our society. Formula was really seen as the hygenic way to feed babies and not using a bottle was akin to being a pauper. There is also a lot of support here and in the forums for bfing! Good for you for making such a healthy choice for your baby!

Ya know. . .I was kind of wondering the same thing. I had never heard of the breast crawl before this year.
